Blowing through grinds

With running a hopper these days, and not having the inclination to start taking burrs out of my Atom to check, I had considered buying a Eureka Blow Hopper. This is a small 300 gm hopper with a rubber collar and you press the whole thing down to blow through the throat cleaning the burrs (perhaps) and the burr chamber into the exit chute. They are around £150 which is a bit expensive to take a chance with.

I complete online surveys and have saved about half of this amount, so if I buy one then I have earned it! Then I saw this gizmo and wondered what would happen if I removed the hopper and used it. Does anyone have any thoughts please?

dfk41 - Use the grinder as designed. No blow up gizmo nonsense. I personally don’t understand how this would work in a hopper fed scenario that is not single dosing. Unless you really want to remove some of coffee and dust from the chamber when you change beans. But then again, what’s the point of that? If you want the burr chamber clean every time - consider buying a single dosing grinder.

Heretic! I would use it by running the beans down, removing the hopper and aiming the gun down the throat! I was interested if anyone thought I might break something. Then when I have finished I can go and blow the snow away………

dfk41 - but why don’t you just put more beans in the hopper? Why do you need to clean that up?

MediumRoastSteam My thoughts were……EUreka would not offer a blow type hopper if it was not needed (but who defines that?). When I have done enough surveys U might buy one but although I do not have it yet I have ordered one of the blow guns. So the thought struck me every now and then to remove the hopper and see what comes out. But the thing looks quite aggressive

Clodius Cheers matey…..the one you posted is less aggressive. I will have mine shortly ordered from Temu and take stock. I can find loads of uses (I think!) for it if I do not use it on the grinder…..the whole idea was really just a passing thought. I do not know enough about the internals of my grinder to know if I could potentially do any harm!

@dfk41 I would recommend the Wolfbox brand. Although I usually order from AliExpress this is an exception. The Wolfbox MF100 was too expensive, but it’s top of the line, so I went for MF50, the rest are not worth the £10-15 you’d save. Don’t take my word for it, Look it up on YouTube
