End of landline phones.

Has anyone taken note of the end of landlines by the end of the year ?

BT are doing away with copper landlines and transferring people to digital ?.

With digital some suppliers will not offer landlines, you will need to rely on mobile.

This will also affect people with care alarms / medical devices.

Our Carecall provider visited over a year ago and changed the box over to a new digital compatible one. I do not think there is going to be too much of an issue for most people as BT own all the infastructure and services like Virgin have been digital for years

It’s not helpful to the thread but it made me realise I haven’t used a landline phone or indeed even known my ‘home’ number for probably 8 years or so.

I presume I have one as I have a connection for the internet but wouldn’t even know how to find it.

Crazy how things change without even really noticing. I still remember our home number from 35 years ago and having to memorise your close family/friends numbers.

And when people still answered the phone with the town name first!
