Hi all
Apologies for the radio silence - bit of a frantic week, Mother taken ill, whole of my family quarantined with covid - I’ve had more restful ones, that’s for sure. All okay, however!
So, as an update, BB did send out a safety valve, which i’ve replaced this morning. As it stands, it appears to have been a success, although I’d like to do some more testing.
For full transparency, I’m now going to make a terrible confession…
Since getting the Bianca, the think that has given me more anxiety than anything is lubricating the group lever after a proper backflush. So, I have been cleaning the shower screen regularly and backflushing with water at the end of each day, but have probably only properly backflushed with Puly Caff 3 times and then not lubricated.
I feel a combination of shame and a great weight lifted, having made that confession…
However, I figured since I was now practically a certified espresso machine engineer (I jest, I jest!), I could tackle this simple task. Predictably, it’s gone wrong.
I followed what I think is actually one of Dave’s videos and set the lever to 45 degrees. Dismantled and lubricated as described.
However, I am completely flummoxed by how to reassemble - there seems no logical way to get the cam back in, as it seems blocked by the two pins and post to the right. The two posts don’t seem to move at all (although I read on a post on the previous forum where someone said they were on springs with someone having the same problem - I think for the MaraX ) and I’ve re-read the coffeetime blog post of Dave’s and I’m nearly sure I’m putting back in at the correct angle, but to no avail.
Is there a knack to this at all? Pic of the inside for reference.
Thanks - I’m determined to get it, you’re all just having to put up with the curse of an idiot!
