Sorry to add more clutter to this thread Harvey, but your comments about not having the world’s largest kitchen reminded me of one of my friend’s kitchens. He’s a rather well-respected architect, and has a predictably brilliant skill for balancing form with function. I love the kitchen he put into their flat in London. It’s small, but works perfectly. Everything is within reach. It is essentially a restaurant kitchen so it’s very much designed with ease of use/cleaning in mind. I’ve added a picture below. I love the stainless drawers and cabinets, and the practicality of the full-height stainless backsplash.

One last thing - consider not having an extractor fan if your kitchen is already decently ventilated. Or choose a hob with an extractor built-in. I much prefer not having an extractor and just opening the French windows when I’m cooking a steak. Plus I never remember to clean them (the extractor, not the windows/steak).
