Before I stick this on Ebay, I wondered if any members would like the chance to buy one of the above? They are rarer than hen’s teeth! When the factory shut down in the ’70’s they smashed all the tooling. This means that only oem parts are available

cannibalised ones. There is a Dutch firm specialising in vintage parts sometimes makes them. They currently have none available and when they do it is 100 Euros plus taxes and shipping.

I still have a red/white caravel and these would be handy spares.
Do you know what volume/height the basket is?
Mine is 26mm high and has a volume of 36ml(plastic food wrap around the outside, pop on scales and fill with water.
Not sure about postage cost to Oz postcode 3340.

Amberale Morning, consider it yours! I will measure it and report back matey. As it happens, I have a schoolfriend who lives in Newcastle (Oz) arriving in 10 days for 7 weeks holiday. If you are not in a hurry I can give it to him (he has done this before for me) and he will forward it on to you. I have it on Ebay for a starting bid of £75. If you will give me £50 and I will include postage. I always like to keep things on the forum! Best part is, no need to pay me until you have it in your hands and are happy!

Sounds like a deal.

I have family in Newcastle, NSW, who regularly come down to visit, so I could possibly organise local pick up.
I just need to sort out how to send some dough to Blighty.
No rush at all and, more importantly, if someone pipes up in the interim and needs this to get a Caravel working again I will step aside happily.

Amberale Cheers Amberale……my friend just messaged to say he is at Sydney and due to fly tomorrow. Leave it with me and I will get Simons details when he is here. You can always just pay him and he and I will sort it out. I have taken it off Ebay. Funnily enough, I could not work out how I came to have this handle. Someone contacted me yesterday who I had sold a Caravel to last year to say he was missing the handle. I am waiting to see if he had one and has lost it or if I have mistakenly not sent it! I will have to qualify it with him and check back through photos but it seems a little odd!

For anyone who has not used a Caravel, they are a vintage open boiler espresso only machine and once mastered can produce a really exceptional shot!

Yes mate, it looks the same.
I have seen a couple of different looking baskets with the “bevel to straight” sidewall varying.
See how it goes.
My preference is for someone else to be able to revive another machine but if not that I’ll take it.
