Evo Leva 2 Both screens off Unable to power on

Hey friends,

Turned on my Evo Leva 2 today and came back to it with both screens black and unable to be turned on. Power switch on the side still green. Completely unusable. Sent a message to the team at ACS but still awaiting their response. Anyone have any ideas on where I could get started looking? The machines only two years and 1 month old.

Obvious candidates are loose cables/connectors, fuse on the mains and fuse on the board. I had a black screen a year ago. It was the fuse on the board. You may grab a continuity tester kit and test the board fuse pieces. I will be surprised if both screens suddenly go faulty requiring replacements. 😊

I’m assuming its the fuse too. Can you or anyone maybe provide a few pictures on the location of the fuses? Im not exactly engineer savvy enough to figure out what to do myself 😓

Kjman Check the fuse at the socket. It’s usually 13A in the UK.

Pl check if cables are ok

Finally, the fuse on the board. Test for continuity. YouTube video will guide you how to.

First step would be to check all the fuses in the gicar as suggested.
With the machine unplugged(!)
Remove right side case panel .
Remove 2 screws from rhe gicar cover.

Im assuming there is no history or event we need to be aware of prior to this …..

Thanks for the instructions. No prior events to note. I checked all the fuses, no issues found with all the ones I circled on the gicar… Doesnt seem like any connections have come loose either as far as I can tell. Is there one in particular I should double check?

Mine isnt currently in bits to take pics of where to check.
Is the float switch ok in the water tank. Cant remember what that does if it shows empty ss mine is shorted out (i don’t have a water tank!)

If you know what your doing you could check voltages from the power supply above the ssr’s. They tend to be robust but can fail.

@Kjman Perhaps, reconnect the display cables on both sides. I assume you had checked the fuse at the socket. I guess the machine powers up ok.

Only the brew screen will shutoff on an empty tank, and the main screen will display “AL11” indicating that the tank needs to be filled..

Which cables are the display cables? Currently only the power switch lights up green which indicates there is power to the machine, but I’m unable to actually turn anything on.

I had a problem with the display on my Evo 1. It proved to be the screen itself. I discovered that the board which is bolted to the display screen with 4 bolts, only had 2 self tappers in and they had worked loose causing the screen to malfunction.

I think that you took the right panel as you look t the machine off. Then loosened the wad of electrics that were bolted to a panel. Pushing that to one side you could just about access the back of the control panel. It might be worth a look

At this point then I think it’s time to check the small power supply as I think that’s what powers it. But again cannot remember. It’s the one between the SSRS and the white junction box

Been talking to Paolo, turns out it was the switch that blew. Here’s an image. Going to be ordering a replacement for it.

Have a friend whos an electrician that I’ll ask for assistance, but trimming and recrimping the wire is pretty simple no? just need the parts and tools 🤪

Okay I would love to come over and help you but it’s a bit far for this weekend. 🤓

If this is not something you do all of the time, please do not underestimate it when working with mains voltage (even in the USA haha). If you have an electrician friend I would definitely enlist his help as simple as this task might be.
