I see that most Bottomless Portafilters come with 21gm baskets. Am I correct in assuming I can dose with less? I usually weigh 17/18gm.

    mikegm It’s wat I do, obviously it’s better to have a basket closer to the dose size..but some coffees are much fluffier than others and take more space….Then you might have difficulty putting 18g in an 18g basket. I also have Daterras which are quite dense and then a 21gm basket might be a little on the large side for 21g.

      mikegm - you can remove the basket and fit any basket - including the same basket you have in your spouted portafilter - into the bottomless portafilter. The portafilter merely holds the basket against the group.

        Thanks guys for your pointers. As mediumRoast says, I would use the basket from my spouted portafilter.
