I recently ended up selling my Lelit Elizabeth. I was looking to help ease the ever present and strong memories I have of Dave. I am not a weak person but his passing really affected me more than I expected. So, I convinced myself that I wanted to really have a deep dive into the world of brewed coffee. The Liz went but I kept everything else. As documented, I bought a Fellow Aiden and Ode Gen 2 grinder.
I have been using them exclusively for several weeks now and it has been some journey! I have managed to make some outstanding brews and a lot of bang average ones! I have learn that brewed coffee is even more complicated than espresso for sure!
So, I am going to put up for sale both of my Fellow products. I still have a Switch and other brewing devices and revert back to espresso based drinks.
So, what has caught my eye? Initially I was very interested in the new Fellow machine. I did a lot of research and thought I could overcome the playful side of the machine. I was drawn by the extremely fast warm up and I quite like the Fellow style menu. They have been out in the US for ages. Over here they launched on a Kickstarter campaign and fulfilled the first round. But to order meant pre-order paying in full with the vague ‘to be delivered late summer’ as an order date. I thought about this and began some dialogue with coffeemerch who are their UK partner. I then received a personalized 15% discount from Fellow US to be used against any product but it turned out this was only for US residents. Eventually coffeemerch emailed me and said they were going to consider my request they honour the discount followed by a second email saying they had thought about it and would not uphold it but offered me a £50 discount to be applied against add ons…….so with me, life is simple. You sometimes reach a line drawn in the sand from which there is no going back and even if it causes self harm you do it anyway.
I went out and bought another Sage Dual Boiler! When I did this I found a cracking deal with Bailies Coffee Belfast. It was £100 cheaper than everyone else except coffeefriend.co.uk but I detest firms who choose names like Value Store or Discount Centre! But Bailies were also including a free Sage Pro grinder. I do not need it but I like to have a second grinder, purely for the odd decaf guest.
So, order placed late Tuesday, the item was collected by DPD the next day and here the trail goes cold! DPD say they have not collected it but I have a consignment number that they claim not to recognize. So I have to wait 5 working days and if it is still missing, claim a refund or another machine.
Let us see what the weekend brings!
