I am Purchasing singke dose grinder DF 54 for my home use,

I was curious about why we need to turn on the machine and pour beans for grinding ?

why can we pour the beans in to the hopper and press the start button ?

Just wanted to know the technical reason behind it

Srin85 I do not know the power output of that grinder, but theory is especially when using lighter roasted beans which are denser, that if you put the beans in first then start the grinder you overload the thing. By starting it off then pouring the beans in, this helps to stop that.

That is the theory but I have not used the grinder so I do not know!

As @dfk41 says, hot starting was because some weaker motored grinders didn’t have enough torque and could stall with harder beans (typically lighter roast) and hot starting could prevent that issue. I think it can in theory lead to more consistent grinding as in theory cold starting means a few beans will be ground at a lower rpm than the rest(no I don’t really buy that).
You may well not need to hot start and the manufacturer is just watching their back by recommending it. I have a df64 but I can’t recall if it says to hot start it, I only over cold start and have never had it stall.
