Just wondering if anything can be done with this sites visibility in google, just realized if I do a search for “UK coffee forum” or Coffee forum" this site does not get listed at all, is there anything that can be done to change this.

I submitted us to google back in late December, it takes 8 weeks to get the site properly registering, after that, continual activity drives rankings. I am already getting notices from google about the number of searches specifically for our site…the more this happens the higher we go. Obviously it’s because we are not high in the general rankings yet.
Goggles algorithms are quite clever, so they will realise people are looking for us. Of course, we don’t run adwords, we don’t pay to get ranking, so in the early days we will be at a disadvantage, until we have been going for a while. My old forum now inactive started to appear in the top few hits…a site has to be there for a while. This site has been open for 3 months. We also sit under the flarum domain, which doesn’t matter that much, but if we had a domain name it would probably help.
I have linked to here on all my other sites:
We just have to be active which will speed up the process a little and add links to our site on social media and any other places we are active. I’m not concerned though because we are absolutely the busiest UK coffee forum by a huge margin. Being non-commercial, it’s not super important, except for ensuring forums realise there is a vibrant community and they can do the same if/when Verticalscope or one of the other big 3 companies, buy their forum and monetise them whilst taking their material and posts and copywriting it.
P.S. I also didn’t add the UK Coffee forum tags to our description until 2 weeks ago 🤣
P.P.S. I just realised I had not added it to my meta tag submissions either, now added and it should pick it up over time.
This was our activity before when we didn’t have a lot of the keywords we should have and also posts were only searched/crawled on the very first post of a discussion. Since yesterday, I set google to crawl ALL posts. My mistake really, but if I’m honest SEO wasn’t/isn’t that important, but I would at least like people to be able to find us easier. It also shows a lot of our new members must be coming from recommendation or by clicking links on my other sites.
So I expect these numbers to improve massively.
I just put Coffeetime in Duck Duck Go and it was third from top.
Vebejaden ours is pretty good now and ranks highly. We are probably the busiest UK coffee forum now, have been for quite a while.
Vebejaden Thanks, I’m gonna give this a read. I get pissed off with google these days giving you everything BUT what your looking for.
Can’t bear word of mouth to get people here. I had an MRI scan Sunday and was talking to the receptionist about coffee and mentioned to her about this site, hope she gives it a look. She has a coffee interest but had no idea about how involved it is.
Once you find it add it to your favourites or bookmark it and you will never need to search again. That’s what I did.
Nightrider_1uk Should have read can’t beat word of mouth. My bad
