drdre89 This was the same with my Silvia Pro X spouted portafilter. The ‘fortune cookie’ was slanting to one side. But i only use that portafilter for backflushing. I don’t know if i should try straightening it or just leave it.
Norvin I’m a bit OCD like that too. I have used shims to get the spouts lined up before but I’ve used a fibre washer on this Rancilio portafilter. It crushes so allows a small amount of adjustment.
Elcarajillo I rarely use a spouted P/F these days but askew outlets pee me off. For standard P/F s I have found a ½′' O ring permits adjustment and allows for easy removal for cleaning. —
Elcarajillo Cuprajake I make two drinks using the naked with ridgeless baskets , just pop them out with my thumb. One kept hot with water in the cup👍. works for me.
DavecUK For those with 3D printers, I wonder if one or more short pieces of print filament inserted vertically in the thread would provide for some resistance, a similar idea to the ND Strip system and allow you to position the spouts as you want?
Waitforme Cuprajake That would do my head in, I’d have to fix that. You made me check mine, I’m glad they didn’t also assemble mine on a Friday. Nice swan, worthy of a post in latte art !
Cuprajake Hopefully the pf department is separate to the machine department 🤣 Joking aside its just a minor niggle, i use a naked pf, was looking for an oem naked so i have 2
DavecUK Elcarajillo I make two drinks using the naked with ridgeless baskets , just pop them out with my thumb. One kept hot with water in the cup👍. works for me. Why do you do that…I just knock out the PF and then use a 1 or 1.5 inch dry paintbrush to clean it out, it’s almost instantly dry for the next shot? I will only wash it out after I have done all my shots.
Elcarajillo DavecUK I use two baskets Mrs El,c likes singles I need doubles, fortunately a single Gaggia basket pulls at the same rate as a 18 gm VST. ap/ 30 secs. I just keep the peace 😂
PortafilterProcrastinator DavecUK I seriously need to get on this. I have been looking for a brush like the one that comes with the Niche, or a small sash brush - I’ve become very hung up on the type of brush I need in my life. What kind of portafilter brush defines me as a person?
-Mac PortafilterProcrastinator For a brush like the one that comes with the Niche, an old skool pastry brush is nigh on identical. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if that’s in fact what the Niche one is.
Pompeyexile Two brushes…the one on the left was the one that came with the Niche. The one on the right is a pastry brush had been using on my coffee equipment, especially the Brasilia Grinder, before I got the Niche.
Ernie1 Just checked mine and it looks pretty straight, haven’t adjusted it. (It also needs a clean 😅)
