I think I know the answer to this, but are there any recommendations for the shipping of a coffee machine from Manchester area to Glasgow?

Given it would be will be the very same packaging that Bella Barista used originally, or am I just being silly and need to organise a family holiday close by and pick the machine up en route home?

Lawman I’d always say pick the machine up if you can….but depending on the machine there would be different, recommendations for shipping.

@Dumnorix successfully shipped a machine (Profitec Pro500) up from Somerset to Manchester area for me using the courier APC and we also added some additional insurance.

There’s a courier thread on here (I’ve forgotten how to link threads!) that had a few other suggestions. Generally comes down to your risk appetite I guess, unless I’m doing 2+2 and getting 5 then the cost of my machine was significantly less than the cost of a 2nd hand Bianca!

I always use Parcelforce with insurance and tracking - been brilliant

Even sent my Elizabeth back to BB for repair this way

Just to add to Mark-drinks-coffee ‘s post above (hope you’re enjoying the Pro500, Mark!) that APC Overnight also delivered my Mazzer Major grinder from Somerset to St Albans with no issues. They have a fragile service which means the boxes are only ever handled by a person and are transported in cages in the same shipment as glass and ceramics etc. Even so I made sure I used tons of bubble wrap.

Couriers are all pretty much the same, you hear anecdotal disaster stories about them all. That said, the vast majority of items get delivered without any issues by all the couriers. I’m up in Edinburgh and have bought quite a few guitars and amps from all across the country. I’ve been lucky, nothing has been damaged by any of the couriers but many have been late. My preference is still to hand over things in person whenever possible- Tebay services on the M6 is convenient for meeting in the middle.

DavecUK changed the title to Coffee Machine Shipment .

Found the old thread about couriers.

I checked out the recommendation for SecurID and can get shipping insurance for £20, so that might be an option.
