So just revisiting the stored water topic I touched on previously earlier. I’m reading a lot of things saying bottled water should only be kept for a very small duration of time when opened. Outside the fridge it seems like durations range from 2 hours (!) to 3 days, and in the fridge seems to range from 3 days to about a week.
Is this all just a bit over the top? It sounds it to me. Currently with Tesco Ashbeck I buy a 5l jug and I think I go through 2 a week, so I would say that the very last top-up has been in an open bottle outside the fridge for 3 days (ish) and then in the machine for 1 day more. When I use the Zero Water it will be much the same as I intend to fill a 5 litre Ashbeck bottle with remineralised water. I could not do that and only do 2 litres at a time which would reduce time spent outside the machine.
@simonc you mentioned you don’t keep your actual Zero water in the fridge. It sounds like you wait until your machine is empty until and then you decant 2 litres in to a bottle, remineralise and then put straight in your machine. I presume your Zero Water dispenser has water in it though that possibly was not filtered just prior to filling the 2 litre jug?
I’m tempted to just stick with what I’m doing, I find it hard to believe it would be much of an issue, especially as the water is being exposed to high temperature when going through the machine.
