one for the mrs brazil beans and then i have 2 ulc and lc profiles for fruity light roast stuff for me,

I think that’s one of the things I like best about the DE1. If you generally use the same beans it’s pretty set and forget once you’ve found the best profile for the beans you like if you want it to be. It makes things really easy for my wife who couldn’t care less about profiling. She just doses the portafilter and presses a button, job done!

I also really enjoy the fact that she now likes making coffee too, which she wouldn’t have done on my other machines.

JammyDodger people usually get scared by the charts, but overlook the fact that DE1 is a super reliable and repeatable machine. Pair it with a good grinder and your espressos will be the same every time.

I do not doubt that, but……in my experience especially with blended beans I would disagree. Let us say a blend is 60/20/20. Can you guarantee that each 18 gm dose has that ratio? No and this is one of the reasons why if I am using same coffee, same grinder and settings, same machine I can still find quite a variance on pour time from shot to shot

dfk41 it’s a problem with the blending process. if you mixed them well, then the ratio would be quite even in 18gr dose. not exact, but close.
But my post was clearly for case of “same coffee with (reasonable) consistency”. My previous machine (Lelit Bianca) can vary up to 5 seconds in brew time (same coffee, same grinder/grinder setting, same scale). NOT to mention the temp fluctuation (and there was no way to know that).
I have watched a few charts for same profile. After 4 or 5 shots I realized they are very consistent, the temp, the flow, the time, the weight.
Of course Decent is just an espresso machine and it can’t fix other problems than what you put in the basket. but if what’s in the basket is the same, it will give you the same shot every time, and has the data to back it up.

delta76 I agree with what you have said, but (!)……you can mix and blend as much as you like. You can individually create every single bag of coffee by measuring in 60/20/20 but after transport and assuming that the beans are different density and weight when you take out your 18gm dose, you have absolutely NO idea what the ratio mix is…….I do not think, prove me wrong!

dfk41 i very rarely drink blend, but i suppose you can shake the bag before pouring out the beans.
Anyhow as I said DE1 can only guarantee same puck = same espresso. It is your job to ensure the same puck, not its. It can’t make different pucks behave the same
Shot consistency is one important aspect of a good espresso machine, and for that DE1 really excels. Other machines can do well such as LMLM, but when you consider the flow, pressure and temp variables, (LMLM only delivers at set temp, set pressure) it is no short of amazing how DE1 pulls it off (pun intended)

lagom would start this moring, pressed the on button - nothing - gave it a few presses, just stalled

opened it up, no blockages, im sure it also sounds louder than it did,

ive emailed lagom for some help, but i did buy it used, hoping its not an expensive fix

Cuprajake It is always annoying when this sort of thing happens….here is to hoping that it is an easy and cheap fix, well facilitated by Lagom.
