This evening after dinner, I took over the kitchen floor and opened the top lid. I have to admit that the place to put the ribbon (both of you were spot on, the ribbon had disconnected) is not the most accessible, but after a while I have managed to put it back in place. With a good dose of trepidation I switched the machine. No cigar! I was crushed at this stage and then I remembered that the ribbon has another end that might have suffered the same fate. Opened the Gigar box and …. voila, both ribbons were disconnected.
Put it back, left the box open and once again switched it on. This time I enjoyed the familiar blue colour of the display.
I repeated it a few times before I assembled it back. Checked the pump, it easily hit the 9 bar on Profile 2.
Tomorrow morning I will play a bit more. One of the silver lining of the whole ordeal was the fact that for the current coffee beans we are drinking I came a cross a very sweet spot at 7.5 bar. My wife came to ask me what coffee I was using, that sweet the taste was. I will explore this effect as the difference in taste was remarkable.
Thank you very much for your helpful advice! This by far is the best coffee community, not only in the UK, but globally.
Cheers!
