I haven’t changed the pump settings yet. Decided I’d do one thing at a time!! May have a play this weekend. Will give your settings a go. Have just been running a 10s 2 bar followed by flat 9 bar until shot finishes. May even experiment with one of the levee profiles now I’m getting the hang of it.

I actually have a minima 2 hole tip. Has that made a big difference to your steaming? It is unquestionably my technique, but I am finding the speed of steaming difficult to be consistent with. Have had some great results and some less good. Have found that purging the steam wand before use, after it has been stood for a time, helps.

JahLaza I returned to stock settings of 10.5 / 400. It’s not ideal but pretty close so just left it at this at the moment.

I ordered the replacement magnet For the V’s pump today! Also ordered the cup rack as it didn’t come with my used machine. The V has been sitting in the garage long enough and the Breville Dual Boiler is showing it’s age. Hope to get it up and running ASAP.

Hi All,

Water has stopped coming out of the group head!

The pump is running, there’s water in the tank (it’s plumbed in).

it’s literally only 3 weeks old.

It started happening yesterday intermittently, now I can’t seem to get any water to come out.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

caffeineus_impervious Check there isn’t a split above the waterline in the intake tube, also check the tube is in the bottom of the tank and submerged, remove any filter cartridge on the tube (although I don’t believe they use them). Check for a kink in the inlet tube…finally, put up and unlisted video with sound on YouTube and link to it here.

Oh is any pressure showing on the display?

I pulled the water tank out, the pipes all looked good but I gave them a jiggle and now everything seems to be back in order. Whoop whoop!

Damn. Not working again this morning. There was a filter one one of the inlet tubes which I’ve removed. The pipes all look good. Water level fine.

caffeineus_impervious the little particulate filter on the inlet tube should be left, as the gear pump can have problems if it injests particles.

Watching the video, it’s clear the pump is making pressure without any problems, but it wasn’t clear whether the water in the tank is going down or not because the camera only flashed there for a second or two?

My guess at the moment would have to be either a blocked top e61 group jet, or perhaps the lever for whatever reason isn’t lifting the top group valve (unlikely).

A less likely possibility is one of the solenoids feeding the group, because the group always has a mechanical disconnect via solenoid from the hx in the service boiler whether it’s on or not. If this is the case, there’s something we can test in advanced settings if necessary.

OK I’ll put the particulate filter back on.

The water level isn’t dropping.

Also it’s worth noting that on occasion, water is coming through. It’s happened twice today out of perhaps 30 attempts…..

I have tried loosening the bolt on top of the group head. Water comes out. After I do this, water comes out of the shower screen when I lift the lever. But only once. I’ve tried this process 3 times with the same result. Also I modified the pressure profile to straight 9 bar and noticed that the pressure jumps straight to 12 bar when no water comes from the shower screen. Is this information helpful at all?

caffeineus_impervious Yes, it sounds like you have a blockage in the group. Machine cold, top nut removed, lift lever, I’ll bet plenty of water comes out.

Hey folks. I finally had a little bit of time to power on the Vesuvius after having it sit in the garage since January 2021. At that point I knew it needed a pump magnet. Details here.

I thought it would be a good idea to power on the machine and check it out before teardown to replace the pump magnet.

I get the Filling Timeout Error. I did check for any splits or kinks in the inlet hose to the pump, but it looked fine. When the pump turned on, the water level did not drop, and the pump only turned on for a very short period of time.

I have it set to run off of the internal tank and have double checked it. It was late at night so I could have missed something very basic.

Question. Should I just jump in and replace the pump magnet, or should I do some failure analysis on this first? It did fill and power up fine last winter.

What I did here was the clunk of the solenoid, possibly the one opening to fill the internal tank, as if it thinks it’s plumbed in

Why is the water level flicking up and down, is it the model with the capacitive sensor or a float in the tank.

Initially, you want to find out why the pump is not running at all, what happens if you lift the lever, is it definitely in the tanked position, what happens if you lift the folat, or press it down to induce low water. I’ll stop now…until you done a few checks and provided a little more context.

No water comes out when the machine is cold. The only way I can pull a shot now is to relieve pressure from the group by loosening the bolt on top to allow some water out while the machine is hot. This will allow me to pull one shot.
