limelight given the pricing of their other products relative to their competition, its hard to see it going for less than US$10,000. But even at 8k the Decent still maintains a price advantage of 2 to 3k.

Also, based on the information provided, the Decent would also maintain a significant advantage in the capacity to alter variables (temperature, pressure, flow rate) at every stage of the pour. The fact that the display on the Synesso is not a tablet as such would lend weight to that theory.

Where the Synesso will probably have an edge would be the steam and being able to pour and steam simultaneously. So for lovers of milk coffee, it likely has an edge. For espresso nerds/tech heads, not so much.

tompoland In my household half the drinks are milk based and I am the only espresso drinker among them (Yes I alone account for the 50% 😈). Tried the decent at a friends and found it’s foaming while adequate won’t suit my needs.

This being the closest thing to a regular machine will fit the bill. If it is too expensive I will stick a couple of more years to the bianca (which is doing what I require).

Let us hope their pricing is decent
since that will be the only hydra holding anybody from going to it.

    PUN INTENDED.

Otaibimn do you recall which model the Decent was? The XXL has advanced steaming capability. It’s pricier the the standard DE1 though and was designed with cafes in mind.

Now that’s a beauty. Not seen too much info or talk on it online too. Would love to see the review

hthec The problem is whether I should publish it as it was confidential. Even though they didn’t even give the common courtesy of a reply, or as far as I know, change anything.

If you ever feel tempted to buy one, don’t, not even used at a bargain price, or at any price I hoped it would quietly fade away, but a few people have purchased them
let’s hope more don’t.

It’s a dud and not fixable. They need to do a significant redesign.

DavecUK Injuries? I must have missed quite a bit in the HSE department of lever machines but would anyone like to elaborate?
My wife is a silent (not so much though) spectator of my rituals but the injury part is asking for more information.
            Thank you in advance! â˜ș

DavecUK I do not think you need to publish it after what you have said. Breaching confidentiality can be a tricky and sticky thing to get rid of later.

Sham There is a lot of energy in the spring. If you pull it down and it slips out of your hand, that’s bad, or if the Portafilter shoots off. Hence keeping your head and other body parts out of the way. I always use one hand over the other to reduce the possibility of slipping.

It’s always important to ensure the handle of the lever has no defects.

Was hoping that paddle would be more than a glorified button for changing brew phase, hardly screams manual control but I guess the appeal will be for people to set up parameters then leave it to do its thing. A more traditional-looking Decent rather than a huge leap forward technologically.

I realise now the El Roccio Zarre is at Version 2 and those “hey hows it going like and subscribe reviewers” have been reviewing it.

I first came across it in January 2016 and reviewed it for Bella Barista, as they were deciding whether to stock it. I saw the machine again at Milan in October 2019, and in 3 years 10 months, nothing had changed, even though they had been sent my review.

I think anyone considering the version 2 should understand the version 1 and how much if anything has really changed
.so here it is. These were intended to be published as a series, and I have a number of these reviews. In the end I thought better of publishing in case it impacted the companies concerned, especially if they were going to improve their machines as a result of feedback
.in light of the following 3 years 10 months nothing happening, perhaps I should have published it.
