MWJB Mouthfeel and some elements certainly felt different in a positive way at 26, but I think I have to get the EY up.
I can see going down to 15g would increase bed disturbance, at least in the earlier stages. Is that the theory behind smaller pours? If smaller pours result in a shorter brew time, more agitation is the effect I could think of that might increase extraction.
Would you suggest two in the middle at 15g too or increase it to 3-4?
The idea behind lowering water to 200 g was that I was approaching too fine, but is 210 g better to get a bit more extraction out of the beans?
Once you get to the point where there’s standing water for the remainder of the brew, does pouring rate have any effect besides changing the total brew time if the drops just add to the standing water? Even on the brews approaching 5 minutes, there wasn’t a clear bump in EY.
As I was about to measure the cup just now, I noticed a bunch of stringy particles in the DI water. I thought it could be threads from a dishwasher towel, but turned out to be coming from the DI bottle. I realized that the little disc inside the cap, made of paper or something, had started to disintegrate and dropping small particles into the bottle. I don’t trust it to be a good reference anymore so I’ll buy a new one day. If I get the same kind, I’ll throw away the disc first thing.
