been doing a lot of googling and youtubeing over the last couple of days.

I’m now wondering if i’m closer or further away from a decision!!

Been chatting and its been suggested for my needs the new Vostok should be what i’m looking at.

Any opinions here greatly appreciated.

My ideal (i think) , having never owned a lever and liking the synchronika would be: anytime access to steam, water and brew water without manual intervention to temperature control (so, dual boiler?). Liking the idea of the dump valve but i guess you guys will tell me its not necessary!!

What do you see as the differences with the EVO and the Vostok.

Not sure if this reply is unfair and in the wrong place so please delete if deemed an inappropriate post in this thread. Ive been around facebook for a while but am fairly green with the forum environment.

so, having watched the above video (from a very nice person!) i guess my above reply is being picky to say the lease and the only real life feature extra to the vostok is the dump valve??

please correct me!!

Adrianmsmith If you take the original version of the Evo (Dave had the first prototype, pre-production one made from the parts bin!) then compared it to the proposed newer version, then ask yourself if the new bits actually change anything to the shot. You can then put a value on the new machine. I used to like staying up to date but am not so fussed these days. For me, the facility to kill a shot is meaningless. I am not a temperature tweaker either!

Buying second hand saves you a tidy sum, but if the pull of a brand new machine is your hearts desire, then you know what to do! Why not declare part of your post code and see if there are any owners near you, then you can have a play. I doubt if someone made you two shots, one on the old EVo and one on the new, you could tell them apart.

I have one of the first production machines. I often think am I missing out by not getting the newest itinerant, then I think well, I would probably not use the bells and whistles anyway

As far as I can tell, these are the differences between the Vostok and EVO currently:

• Styling
• Bigger frame that doesn’t require weights to prevent tipping and allows easier maintenance.
• Rotary Pump
• Shot stop

I have an order for the Vostok. The EVO has a much more practical footprint for the home, I’m just a sucker for the styling on the vostok. If I lived in the UK, I would have bought this used machine over a new Vostok. The depreciation is significant enough that buying used would allow “renting” of the machine.

Loonster Just to confirm that the Evo does not tip, with or without weights. They were put in as a precautionary move but imho could be taken out
