I’m not certain I’m going to tackle this yet but just weighing-up what’s involved.
I’d like to paint the Mazzer SJ that I’ve been jazzing-up. Probably just a gloss off-white.
I’ve painted motorcycle tanks before and am familiar with the process required to get a good gloss finish, but obviously dealing with something steel that gets filled with petrol and is quite different to a food-safe item in cast aluminium.
Has anyone attempted this? Does the existing finish need to be stripped first? Obviously primer won’t take to the existing finish but I’m wary of using a harsh paint remover.
Could I just sand-down and get to work? What paint/clear-coat would be safest to use?
