We have been mostly drinking sugarcane decaf in the evening. This is excellent with or without milk. We are running out of the decaf, will be buying a KG soon and not sure if we should try the Swiss Water this time. Which one do you guys mostly drink? Why? Are there any significant differences to the cup between these two? If Swiss Water, could you recommend a roaster please? Thx

@"LMSC"#p17458 I think you're going to find more of a taste difference from the origin of where the decaf beans actually came from. For instance Mexican decaf beans tastes completely different to Columbian decaf. The decaf process whether sugarcane , Swiss water , organic mountain water is personal preference. I find Columbian popoyan decaf to be very chocolate-y and tastes most similar to a normal rich coffee you get at a cafe. The Mexican decaf has more of a unique orange aftertaste and tastes more third wave.

Thanks guys. @"drdre89"#p17465 Fait point. I was wondering if the decaf process tends to alter the taste. For example, I read elsewhere the sugarcane process adds a little bit of sweetness. I am not sure where I read this though. There was also an article on Dr [Wakefield](https://drwakefield.com/news-and-views/alternative-decaffeination-methods-an-interview-with-swiss-water/) site that unlike sugarcane process, the Swiss water method is completely organic and additive free. @"Inspector"#p17467 I mostly find Columbian decaf. The coffee beans from Guatemala, Rwanda, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and El Salvador are usually a little difficult to extract. We notice them straightaway while brewing. I wonder the decaf from them would mean harder dial-in, as we any way grind the decaf beans finer than standard beans? What was your experience?

LMSC On the decaf front, this week it is Smith Streets Five Arches but I am not enjoying it as much as normal. I think having had Java Jampit recently I have spoiled my tastebuds as for me, there is no finer coffee!

Swiss water. Best decaf we have ever tried. Dont judge it by its price.

They dont have roast date on the bag, but they say its 1 week old at most. You can clearly see when you pull a shot anyway that they need min another week rest on top :)

First, I appreciate and do not doubt, even for a moment, your judgement about the coffee inc the process.

However, how could one sell an SO, under current circumstances, at £9 a KG? If we consider it’s potentially roasted a week before the dispatch, the mystery gets deeper.

There are the costs of beans, roasting charges, electricity, labour, transport and profit margin! Yet, it is 9 quids for a kilo.

Thats also what i bought, roasters selection and nicaraguan decaf. I tell you what for 5.99 that blend is superb. It has robusta in it, if you like the kick. Thats my go to Cortado beans now.

But i will place a new order next week will try sth new.

Mind you i had a little stone in the Roasters selection bag. So when you recive yours just have a look in case.

I saw their ad on Facebook in August and i paid £4.79 at the time for postage.

I think the only problem here might be the consistency between batches.

Lately I’ve been pulling my decaf shots short. 17g in 26/27g out. And the shots have been amazing. So like a 1:1.5 ratio.

Sweet and chocolatey without any bitterness.

Am using a Columbian sugarcane decaf.
