Doram Sadly in the UK if you put a glitter bomb in a package to teach a porch pirate a lesson and they slipped and broke their leg, or had a crash in their car (if they or a passenger opened it while driving), the UK police would be beating a path to your door to. This would not be to thank you or, congratulate, but to arrest you.
Even the use of anti climb paint is fraught with problems…sadly, we are much easier to prosecute than the crims. We even lost our right to silence by stealth and most people are not aware it even happened… section 34 of the Criminal Justice & Public Order Act 1994 was introduced, and an adverse inference could be drawn from a suspect’s silence in a Police interview.12 Aug 2020
I’ll add, “or when arrested!”
The USA call it the 5th amendment and it remains intact for them, an adverse inference cannot be drawn from you choosing to remain silent.
So again we think that this must help the police fight against crims right…wrong, crims know to “shut up”, upright citizens who get in trouble over a glitter bomb or any other thing, have no idea, they think the police are interested in the truth….noo. So they talk and talk. The non criminals are so much easier to prosecute. If ever stopped by the police that innocent question “do you know why I have stopped you”….fraught with problems.
