Hi all, I have a grinder that I reckon is rather good. Possibly the best value high-end grinder on the market. I'm so impressed with it that I want to do a review on it. I don't want to say what the make and model is at this point but rather I'd love to know what you would like to see in a review. Context: I only drink espresso so I won't be commenting on the grinder's application for brew. Also I'll pull all the shots on the Decent because I can get the most consistency to compare shots, as opposed to the Strietman (manual lever). A video of the work flow and actual grinding plus subsequent shot pulled from an espresso machine would be a solid start. But what else would you like to read about? For example, impressions of flavor with a light, medium and dark espressos? Or the history of the grinder. Would you like to see a manufacturers "right of reply" type response included? Photos of the unboxing? What would pique your interest? An what has been missing from other reviews that has frustrated you or what's annoyed you about what was included. All ideas, formats, feedback, requests gratefully accepted! Disclaimer: I have no commercial interest in the grinder. I'm not being paid for the review, I am not an "influencer". For me, I’d like to see: * workflow; * Grinding different types of coffee (light, medium, etc); * How to clean it; * Look inside, construction, switches; * Retention (total and exchange); * Constructive feedback and opinion; * Pulling a few shots.

i think build quality & design is something worthy of mention, something can perform functionally well but be held together with rubber bands and plasters, for my money high end is where function meets quality of construction, materials and thoughtful design. It's not even about something being high tech or clever (Apple are often the shining example of great design/quality), for example I have a long handled plastic shoe horn which is just so perfectly designed every time I use it there is a satisfaction about it, despite it just being a lump of moulded plastic.

And variations with grind size vs. dosing if any (i.e. keeping brewing ratio constant, but altering grinding parameters slightly). I know you said you wouldn't test other brewing methods, and I'm totally respectful of that decision/situation, but that would be the other thing that interests me a lot (specifically with Turkish). Final suggestion, a review of maintenance operations (particularly if grinder is electric), and lots of details around construction; a lot of the stuff I see is not particularly well engineered/built, but they make us pay through the nose for it. A comparison with your current daily driver, shots dialled in for best flavour on each, scores over a few coffees (I work with 10). Dose consistency without brushing/puffing (0.01g scales would be best for this).

For me the most important things would be: 1\. workflow and ease of use 2\. Retention; with and without crutches like RDT, puffing, brushing 3\. ease of cleaning, ease of changing burrs 4\. I'm not a technical person so I would have no opinion on the build and innards aside from those that affect the grind output directly such as: wobbly shaft, drifting grind setting, stalling 5\. Noise level. This one seems to be difficult to convey through video though Looking forward to your review!

I'd like to know something about the burrs, as the grinds distribution they produce can make all the difference to what ends up in the cup. Did you have a choice of burrs when you ordered the grinder?

Thank you for the link. It is very much passive aggressive attitude that I have personally encountered on a few occasions in this part of the world.

Hats off to Tom who offered to share his observations and simply asked for suggestions.
I cannot fathom where the human kind is going, The latest developments, e.g. Ukraine, UK political situation, US Congress in Jan 2021, made me watch again Idiocracy, a movie that makes you think how much it is science fiction and how much we are getting there.
