Hi, I have noticed lately on my three month old Puristika the E61 lever sometimes stiffens when I am trying to move from middle to horizontal (brew) position. Sometimes it sticks and requires me to apply pressure to get it to get to on position and then the next time I do it, it's easy. Most of the time it is very smooth. I did lubricate the cam with Molykote 111 about a month ago, following a Cafiza backflush. I am not sure what to make of it.

@"AlfredB"#p21224 OK. I do wonder whether it might be that the pump switch could be sticking - rather than a pin or valve in the group. With the machine off, try pushing the button with your finger (maybe remove the lever) a few times to try and feel if they might be the issue. Otherwise, one for Dave or other more experienced members. 👍

A while ago I lubricated the switch with a little Haynes Lubri-Film, but I will give this a try, thank you!

To lube the cam spindle washers, get a cocktail stick and place a bit of lube into the hole, as you push the spindle through and rotate it, the lube will get to the washers, without taking it apart.

it’s a good idea to lube the O ring on the Mushroom (bit with the red X) , other than that the mushroom shouldn’t need to be removed again for years.

Did lubrication actually fix the other problem….you omitted to mention that?

P.S. You can also lubricate the sides of any valves, where they move up and down in group…e.g. like the one in the last photo.

Yes, sorry, I forgot. The lever swings upwards smoothly now, but as I said there is some resistance going down to the closed position. Maybe it is normal, sometimes I think I am being OCD.

Also, the reason I wanted to break apart the bell was the check the gicleur screen and the gicleur itself.

I think the downward feeling is normal. Next time you remove the top fitting, you will notice 2 flats on the shaft of the “Bell” fitting as you call it. That’s for a very well fitting spanner, so that you can split the parts. They are steel mushrooms, so can bind a bit, especially if no one lubed the thread with Molykote 111, which you would of course do when reassembling.

AlfredB They are just normal threads….so the spanner on the bottom is pulled clockwise and the spanner on the top is pulled anticlockwise…..assuming that’s what you meant.

Yes, that’s what I meant, thanks, just wasn’t sure because they were soo tight.
