Eiffel I’m also using mostly the IMS 26 basket, but with some coffee beans (e.g. Extract’s Original), I can’t cleanly dose 18g with it out of my Niche and Norvin’s funnel and have thus resorted to dose only 16g in such case.

Wanted to see if the extra headroom IMS 32 would make any difference - for my set up, it didn’t. Dosing 18grms into IMS 26 doesn’t cause shower screen impression on the puck but it would be difficult to tell using a GU 10 circlip to retain the shower screen. I prefer to focus on taste and the difference between the two shots earlier was negligible.
LMSC Systemic You don’t find any fractured puck dosing 18 grams on IMS32, do you? This isn’t a problem on the 26 but mostly is on the 32 in my case. The puck fracture does not change with any grind size in the espresso range of the JX pro or the dosage in the case of 32. It does makes wonder if the Evo is exposing the Jx Pro’s limitations.

Can’t remember last time I had a problem with channeling - put a lot of this down to the Evo’s gentle pre-infusion pressure. I do put a lot down to the grinder of course. I get very different taste outcomes using same bean with the EKS and Niche but that is to be expected. I don’t like the results from the Niche using lighter roasts but medium plus is a different story.
dfk41 Can someone link me to the IMS 26 basket please. I have been using the stock since arrival, but over the last week I have been drinking decaf and getting quite a few fractured pucks. I wonder if this might help?
dfk41 Systemic Having made the switch from the stock basket to the IMS, I can definitely say the IMS makes a big difference, and that is from someone who has kippers for taste buds!
Msmk0 For me the best results by far is IMS 26 basket dosing 17gr. + Bplus disk. I will nit say every shot is perfect because sometimes I prepare coffee at 6AM, but almost there! 😅
Cuprajake Hi all, I currently have the evo set at 92/98. This is for medium roast, What setting are people using for medium to light roasts?
dfk41 Cuprajake I drink medium and a little darker and mine are 93/101 so you will not be far away with Patricks figures matey
NelisB Cuprajake What setting are people using for medium to light roasts? My lowest was like 89, for all the machines I had. But now I went to 86/87 light (filter) roasts are becoming much much better. Far less sour and better fruity and floral tones.
Cuprajake Cheers, so my actual temp is quite low, Ive noticed the stock shower screen is a better fit with the gu10 spring than ims
Cuprajake One observation ive made, 17g ims basket im at 1:2 at 8bar pulling the cup. 8 bar seems to be a constant with me, and thats with a pre infusion sweating basket.
darkstefano Before I get into trouble, how i can remove the filter in the tube on the water tank? And how to clean it? Thanks a lot
LMSC Opened the top of the group to see if I can push the filter gasket down. No. there is no access as the entire bore is attached to the lower part of the group. I can’t remove the filter gasket as it is a nice fit. I am leaving it as it is than trying to remove it to fit the silicone. Took it as a chance to lightly grease! It was hardly dirty after 8 months.
DavecUK LMSC Wait until your old gasket needs changing, make sure you have a spare OEM gasket, if one was supplied. Then dig it out carefully and fit the silicone one.
