Cuprajake was just a question, as i have a friend with an londinium compressa that is plumbed in and that would leak under line pressure over night, so he turns the water off now and drains the group at night
This is really down to the design of the Compressa, if it’s leaking from the group at night, it’s passing the seals at the top. Lever machines have a number of ways to fill. Anything that can pass water through the group, or into the main boiler under line pressure, should have an inlet solenoid which pulls in when on and closes when the machine is off.
This is because the possibility of leaky top seals is always going to become a “thing” at some point as they age. It would only cost the Fracino factory a bit of wire (to the main switch) and a 230V solenoid…around £8 extra on the build cost. As you turn it on, the solenoid is energised and opened. When it’s turned off, the solenoid closes. Would still work with a smart plug as well.
I suppose your friend could have his machine modded by a repair shop to add this “feature”.
It’s no problem for these solenoids to remain energised for long periods of time either. On my EM Pinballs they have a “hold relay”, when you plug the game in and/or switch it on, it’s permanently powered. In the olden days these machines were left switched on in Acrades 24×7 for decades. Both my machines are 50 and 62 years old respectively and those solenoids are still fine.
Surprised they have not done something like this by now?
