MediumRoastSteam couldn’t you use the blank cartridge on the Osmio to draw water to fill the machine up, and then put the cartridge back for day to day drinking? Then again I don’t know how practical that is for your routine. I fill my machine up every 7 days. I don’t know about you.
That’s a good trade off, although I fill at least 3-4 times a week - considering I draw water out after every steaming. Will have to see the practicality of it. Because, the Oz has 1 litre filtered water tank. That must be flushed out to draw just pure RO every time for this method to work.
dfk41 Am I right in thinking that the water in the steam boiler even though it is RO is somehow mineralising and causing the bother, so the idea is every now and then to draw off a large amount of hot water?
Yes. The steam leaves the minerals in the boiler. If you are steaming for 2 cups a day, scales will kick-in perhaps in a week; I don’t know how much as @Rob1 is an expert in this. It accumulates if we don’t flush / draw the water out.
So, some of us draw a cup every now and then; I draw a cup after a steaming session, which is once a day. Some times, twice a day. I also flush all the water out once in 3 months. Sorry, it all sounds complicated mate!
