Finley-72 I heard them sound like that because of the very fast fill. There is no diaphragm in the gear pump. I don’t know what the chunk chunk chunk sound every second is…unless it’s pump activations to maintain pressure when the lever is down.

Unless of course they are putting pressure transducers in current models now

It’s the pump,

Gear pumps are noisy, it could also be the way it’s attached to the bracket making it worse.

The manifold also makes a noise that adds to it.

You’re right for sure. On my machine I can hear the pump, manifold and the air being drawn in. I’ve appreciated your videos very much and compared them to my machine. Yours sounds like it should. Mine has the extra air sound. Does the gear pump have a diaphragm that could possibly be damaged? And perhaps if I changed out the pump it would go away?

Gear pumps by their nature create cavitation, it’s how they are designed.

So I’m not entirely sure what the extra noise is on your machine.

I have noticed that the newer Evo coming out all have a quick pressure stat, as in monst new vid the machines will fill then you get the pump duh duh duh duh noise, where mine fills and has a pause before filling.

I have messed with my pressure stat deadband which is a no no though.

Although watching your group gauge it reacts differently to mine,

The pick up pipe isn’t blocked is it?

If you watch your gauge, the lever comes down, pause pump kicks in, gets up to pressure but the pressure bleeds off quite quickly, this could just be the grind.

Hi we got an email only from your agent on Wednesday evening and we have replied asking to send the video again because we we’re unable to open and we got the day after. Sorry for the delay. Sometimes with quiet environment it’s hard to understand if the sound it’s normal or not we have also forwarded the video to our supplier in order to have also their consideration. In any case we are going to ship a new pump to check if the problem will be fixed and if the problem is the pump or if touch something else that make this noise. In the meantime you could check from the top of the pump or pipes touch the frame. Thank you

Hello Paolo,

Thank you for the reply it is much appreciated. I was never concerned that ACS wouldn’t help figure things out. I only posted here to take advantage of the experience and knowledge from the forum members. Members whose posts I’ve read which helped me choose the Evo over other machines. Because perhaps it was something simple I was overlooking

I hate to ask for something that has been mentioned before, is there a link or sizing etc for the stainless steel circlips that are easier to take off? I want to order a couple but couldn’t find them on here though searching

Hi guys. Just wondering if someone could assist me here? Or point me in the right direction.

Just started getting a leak in my acs evo leva when I engage the lever. I was using a slightly finer grind than usual but the thing is it was still a 30 second shot and it didn’t choke the machine. To make sure it wasn’t the grind size, I let the shot drain and then pulled the shot 3 more times actually without changing the coffee and the problem still persists.

Wondering if you guys have any advice on how I can self fix this? :) thank you

bradliew Can’t see clearly. Is it leaking at the back of group? Jake is right. @danielpugh has had lots of issues with it amongst many other woes. IIRC, it still does to him occasionally, despite plenty of gasket / seal changes. He thinks. iirc, there might be an issue with the group itself.

The best course of action is to open the group, clean, replace the bottom gasket and see if it helps. More importantly, please take a video of the issue and let ACS know the issue. Please share the video with them.

bradliew Few things you need to do

Age of machine, as exact as you can
make a better quality video and put it on YouTube unlisted
e-mail ACS support with the YouTube Video link
ensure video contains sound

It’s probably the lower group piston pressure seal letting by for some reason. However it’s critical for ACS to know if the group manufacturer has supplied groups with a bad batch of seals (either currently, or at some period in the past). Or even is the specification of seals needs to change, which is unlikely as those seals last a long time even in a commercial environment.

I can clearly see it’s been doing this before, from the water marks on the chrome.

P.S. If you purchased new, you probably have a spare group piston pressure seal in the box.
