ManicAsif If you wanted an Evo quickly, you could speak to ACS about taking mine off my hands?

Would save both ACS and myself a lot of hassle I would imagine. No dramas if this is a bad idea.

I don’t have the safety system and do not miss it, but I guess it is something you will have missed when it’s too late. So I was wondering: people who had a lever without it (or still have), did you have a lot of occasions where you needed it?

I understand it is quite easily retrofitted so I’m thinking about doing so.

only once with my old machine,

and once with the new one trying the safety system,

i personally dont like the safety system as it holds back peak pressure,

tbh, i have no experience with lever machines and don’t have a view on whether this safety is a real thing. Unless I am mistaken, my understanding is that its only a concern if the portafilter is not connected properly and then flies off releasing pressure too quicky and the lever flying back suddenly

even then, the danger is only if you are too close to lever on its way up and run the risk of being hit!

I have never hada portafilter come off the group head (well certainly not on a E61 group head)

am i missing something?

I don’t think it is required, as long as, the lever is locked and released with two hands.

I intially misread your post and thought you said you sold your evo because of the dose system! then realised you meant you sold your v1 for the dose system :)

I must admit, I do like the sound of it, especially if removes the need for playing musical chairs with the cups towards the end of the shot

ManicAsif I love it on my evo. It works great and is super repeatable. Especially when steaming milk simultaneously. Can really recommend it!

BTW, I understand you have already boxed the evo away - is that in its original crate?

I must admit I am a little concerned with it being transported again and the risk of damage - but if in its original box along with all the safety support - should be good

ManicAsif It’s still sitting on kitchen worktop, was waiting for instruction on whether they wanted boilers drained etc.. before boxing up.

I would have been up for driving it for a half way hop of sorts to avoid courier abuse - but you probably couldn’t get much further away from me. I do still have everything that it came in.

I will require a VAT receipt, but I don’t think that will be an issue

I would not expect to pay any import duties - but wouldn’t have though there were any??
