It is what it is, I asked for that to be changed 2 days after I got my Evo.

It’s just a natural expectation to me I guess. The tank would drive me crazy!! And don’t even think of not plumbing in the drip tray……

You wouldn’t have a great big rank at the side of your washing machine or dish washer and stand there feeding it water 🤬😎

Must be worse than going from a diesel car to one where you need to plug it in every 200 miles or so to go any further. Who would invent such a thing 🤬🫣😜

I’ll give you you a few reasons, for any machine:

add non-scaling water to the machine
don’t want to drill kitchen top
don’t keep machine near the sink
don’t keep machine in the kitchen
can’t add a water purification system
other constraints
are happy to top up the machine
rent their home
think life is too short
don’t have the same philosophy as you do 🤪

I have granite worktop tops, not drilled. It did take a couple of hours one day to get the water pipes to the machine and sort out regulator and filters, but, one day solved all the hassle of filling it and chuntering every day 😎

Still a great choice if a fantastic machine!!

Providing you have the space and your plumbing isn’t a mess, then yes. I don’t think it is as common as you think.

Anyway, on a more serious note.

You guys really, really, really do not know what you are missing.

It does make that much difference for very little effort and 20 minutes changing a cartridge every year.

I admit the door fill on the Evo was my least favourite thing, but then descaling is even worse.

The Evo 2 comes with drains on the boilers now. So that does help, but for me prevention is better than cure,

In around one years time I will take out the element from the steam boiler and take a look inside just to see . Will post pictures and eat humble pie if required.

I guess as well as the filter I’m lucky to be in quite a good water area, hardness wise. I cringe when I see the kettles in some hotels when I’m working away from home!!

Has anyone seen any research comparing everpure claris ultra cartridges against any other safe water recipes or bottled water, interested to see the data on that one.

Cartridge is around £60 a year and I end up throwing it by date not total volume , just in case .

I’d recommend not doing that…unless you have an ability to cut into the boiler and then weld it up again. The heating elements are long life Incolloy 800 (effectively lifetime elements), if they do you simply buy a new boiler and refit everything to the new boiler. ACS have not really found need to provide any new boilers yet (to my knowledge), if they have it’s probably defective manufacture from new (and a very small number)…however, not an issue I am aware of.

It’s better because the heating element leaking becomes a non issue and the boiler with elements is not much more expensive than an element alone.

No, if anyone has a link to a reccomended one I would take a look. Have a tds meter but for what we’re looking at it may as well be a light meter as it does add in things as well as remove them….

I’ve had the filter about 4 years now, was reccomended when I got the synchronika which stayed clean. I didn’t research the various filters as I believed what they were saying and they did not stock them. Nearly as good as a Dave reccomend in that respect.

That’s the steam boiler of the synchronika after using the same claris ultra water. Can’t remember how many months.

As for drain plug and the new evo2 I hope they are better than the one ECM used on the synchronika as it leaked. Guess the nylon seal failed so blanked it off 😭😭

The reason I bang on about it every so often is I’m sure it’s not as difficult as most people think and Ive never spoken to anyone who didn’t think, why didn’t I do it sooner .

Once you see how incredibly different it makes the machine you just want to shout about it. Sorry. 😜

I guess the Nurri builds on the Evo and then the evo2 smashes it out of the park??!!……

I just came across your posts knocking the nurri in favour of your evo. It’s good that you like the evo and prefer it but it is not constructive to make qualitative statements like that when so much of it is subjective preferences and value judgments - unless you really are trying to stir something up…

For me for instance, I don’t like the acs approach at all and all that programming and touchscreen controls is not my cup of tea at all. I by far prefer the manual operation of the nurri but I can understand if others may have their own preferences so I’m not going to come out with any statements running down the evo in favour of the nurri because they really appeal to different kinds of customers to me.

Plumbing in is all fun and games until your kitchen gets flooded.

Happens a lot more often than you might think.

Also the tank on some machines is much easier to fill.

HarveyMushman this made me think, perhaps it would be a good idea to use a water leak sensor. IKEA sells one for 9 euros called BADRING.

One of the big reasons I don’t recommend plumbing in. Really any plumb in should use a specialised water stop valve at the plumb in point.

I have even seen a plastic Y splitter for appliances leak at the split point, after years of service, only discovered by accident and before it had got much worse.!

Anglian water will be moving water all over the country soon with their pipeline projects so if plumbing in the water could be changeable too plus I don’t mind filling by hand.
