Worth checking advanced options 4 should be 0 zero for tank

Mine was set 1 which for me wasn’t an issue but should. Be 0 from factory.

This is Evo 2 not 1 but the same solenoid…..

Uses ⅛″ converter then the hose.

If not plumbed in it should be blanked and set as above

@DavecUK thank you! so I DID NOT change the fill valve operation (I had to look up how to even get into the advanced menu) but somehow it was set to plumbed. I switched it back to manual fill. It has been working fine for a few weeks (maybe 15 fills total of the tank?) without this leaking, and I was definitely letting it go until I received the tank fill “alarm” which should have actuated this valve, so this is definitely curious. The only thing I can think of is that yesterday I switched to using a smart plug to turn the unit on/off and wonder whether somehow it defaulted back to this value? I tested this just now - flipping the unit on/off with the smart plug - but it did not toggle back to plumbed in. I din’t have the unit off for 12-15 hours like overnight but that shouldn’t change anything.

I will keep an eye on it.

re: the hydraulics I now see a “3.5 bar” on the fitting going to the Tee (technically a wye) to this device.

for my own information what about the hydraulics description doesn’t make sense? I don’t have a great view but I don’t think I’m missing anything from the routing.

actually it could have been actuating every time I needed my tank filled but it was just dry on the other side, due to siphon action like Dave said or OPV actuation…

Quick clean this morning as what you posted was in the back of my mind 🫣

No prep done here and the photos are “as is” after I’d guess 6 to 10 days being just used. Many coffees and teas made.

Only posting again to show it’s easier than most people think it is. As you already said, each to their own

I used the soft drain down hose for 2 reasons. 1 larger area so no blockages. 2. Exactly right to form a good no leak fit to 15mm copper without clamps or ties.

With DaveC’s Tupperware trick and a 30 second cleaning routine, my machine is in the same condition as in your last picture each time I turn it off, which means twice a day for a total of 23 hours or more in ‘clean’ condition 😋

Horses for courses (and I am the only user of the machine, which is a factor)

Yes I understand, comfort has its price 🤣… I must say that if I had to buy an Evo today, I’d get one with automatic pressure release even if I would probably not use it.

What is cool is that some of the recent upgrades to the Evo 2 should in principle be compatible with the good old Evo 1, which is not a common situation with most products nowadays.

Not just comfort

You have a V1 in any case and I assume you do not clean your portafilter by flushing the head in to it on every shot or heat cups of water and simply throw them in to the tray etc etc I do approx 30 cups of coffee and 14 cups of tea per week through mine. No need to move from the machine at all .

The auto finish is the main , no , the only reason to upgrade to a V2 🤔😎🫣😜 (apart from the pressure stat!!)

Still nothing wrong with the v1!!

I do indeed flush the group (and brush the screen with the group brush at the same time) after my morning and afternoon coffee sessions. The Tupperware dish captures the water while I do this (and a clean wipe removes the eventual splashes on the machine, wire mesh tray cover and into the tray)… I pretty much never remove the drip tray from the machine as there is no need for me to do so.

The ‘paddle’ in development would make this flushing easier/safer although with two working hands the “brushing while flushing into the tupperware dish” is easy to do.

As to reasons to upgrade, besides the upcoming paddle and the autofinish option, the improved rails/underframe and structural reinforcement, the timer, the quieter pump and easier preinfusion pressure adjustment, as well as the easier to purge boilers do add up although I’m waiting for the V3 to come up before upgrading 😁

Does anybody know of a dosing funnel that fits on the IMS B66 baskets that’s easily available in Europe?

The only one I found was the 55mm Sworksdesign, but I don’t really want to import from the US and pay $75 + possible import taxes for a dosing ring.

I trimmed a hog pot to fit my portafilter. Since changing to the Mignon SD grinder I find I don’t need to use it as the grounds no longer clump and a sharp tap with the dosing cup on the portafilter settles them enough to tamp easily.

I use the one from ACS so I guess worth emailing Maria to find out. And it fits my 57mm dosing cup so win win.

I recently ordered the normcore 54mm which does NOT fit so be warned!!

I wish I would’ve read that a couple of days ago, mine just arrived yesterday, and, as you said, doesn’t fit.

I also have that one from ACS, but it sits in the basket, I need one that sits on top of the basket so that I can WDT.

On a practical level I have to agree, hence the holes I’ve been cutting.

Laser cut looks nice on display. Wire much more practical in use.

Adrianmsmith Your Evo2 yields similar results as mine. A new will set me back by at least £4K for an upgrade, which won’t make a difference to my cup. It’s more cleaning and effort, which I don’t want.

It’s not worth the upgrade even for that feature for the haves, IMHO, while a different issue for the rest.

My view doesn’t diminish the value it brings for users like you.

It is just the perception, which differs as in the case of plumbed or otherwise. 😊

I’ve never said otherwise. Had it not been for a strange set of circumstances and (maybe bad!!) timing I would still be the proud owner of the MK1.

I can’t see any reason why you or i would be able to see which machine pulled “ that shot ”.

Don’t get me wrong, I won’t be swapping back now and do not regret my decision but the advantages are all very subjective and as I previously said the main one being the shot end feature. …..

I can’t honestly say I’m now making better coffee and I would be lying if I did. I can say thought the experience is better in a few ways but not so much that you should be considering an upgrade until the natural time comes for you to be doing so or when the upgradeitis bug gets you

For the first time ever I have been brewing and steaming the next shot simultaneously which is great but not necessary and again does not make the coffee in the cup any betterer!!

I’ve had this conversation previously as well, someone mentioned above the quiet rotary pump as an advantage But the MK1 pump never bothered me at all. Or the Vesuvius pump for that matter.

I doubt, touch wood, Evo 1 will pack for a long time. The real risk is my daughter walking away with mine. 😂 Given my age and very uncertain job scene, I doubt I am ready to spend serious money.
