i still have a soft spot for the evo, its a shame it didnt work out

Hey there, I haven’t posted for a bit. My machine was running well but another issue is cropping up. Hoping I can get some suggestions.

I have been noticing a hissing coming from one of the steam boiler fittings. It’s not a lot but it is noticeable to me and not the regular behavior.

Any suggestions on how to narrow down which fitting is leaking steam? I thought maybe a drop of oil around them and see if it bubbles? Water/soap won’t work because the surfaces are too hot. I cannot determine it just by ear it’s frustrating.

I just came back from a vacation and noticed that the plastic hose around the cable for the water level probe isn’t connected to the end:

I tried fitting it back on for a few seconds, but failed (it also looks pretty impossible to do tbh, unless there’s some sort of adhesive involved to keep it in place).

Does this look normal to you, or is it any cause for concern? I suppose the hose could just be there to add “stiffness” to guarantee that the probe is somewhere lower in the tank?

Its just mechanical protection for the wires 😎

If you are not plumbed in it needs to be 10mm above bottom of tank

If you are plumbed in, 40mm

rxmnt It just adds protection and stiffness so it stays at the bottom of the tank instead of floating.

And yes, I actually went to the World of Coffee in Copenhagen, but missed most of it because I was busy eating delicious pastry and hot dogs, as well as visiting lots of fancy specialty coffee places and reaffirming my fear that I might be a basic bitch dark roast enjoyer.

I did walk by it, but only saw a few people hanging out in the back having lunch. I wanted to come back another time and check if someone from ACS was there, but I got distracted.

It was also basically just a Vostok placed on another exhibitor’s booth, nothing fancy like what I’ve seen in your videos.

I think they had a Vostock and Minima. When it’s outside Italy, Paolo can’t take other people out of the company, it’s simply too expensive to do. Plus all the equipment to build the stand (sinks, plinths, lights, banners flooring etc.. etc..) and all the machines (there’s a LOT of stuff to make the stand). So Paolo just has a small space either shared or purchased and himself only there.

I think he did the same one year in Chicago.

The ACS machines are priced so keenly for what you get, there simply isn’t loads of splash money to spend on events, especially as a lot of the profit is invested back into the factory and equipment.

Hey fellow acs Evo leva users :)

I have a question. Always first coffee or coffees taste really good after about 20-40 min from turning the machine on. Later in the day, after 2h of idle running shots start becoming worse, harsh, bitter. I don’t do flushes before shots.

is it possible that when I make the first shots the machine is not completely heated and this leads to different shot type? Do i need to decrease temperature and heat it more?

Do you recommend some different workflow?

What temperatures are you set at

What water do you use

What coffee and grinder

What puck weight

What is your aim for output and shot time

Some more info would help with a lot of guessing.. ….

Adiszep yes, same observation with my v1 machine. The temp sensors don’t reflect the average temp across the full group. It takes maybe an hour to fully saturate the group thus you get different results in the cup.

I have dialed in my beans for 15 min after machine turn on. This way I save some energy too :) If you drink at random times during the day, it might be better to dial in for 60 min after machine turn on since that should represent the always on machine state.

85-93 Celsius with fairly high ambient temp 25-27celsius
100ppm water
Bentwood vertical 63 grinder local roasters light roast
18g in 36g out in about 23-28sec (basic recipe)
At the moment I don’t see the point in filming because it’s impossible to film the taste :)
All shots are without visible channeling and extract nicely with beautiful pour

Maybe try 88 on head but thats not going to be a miracle cure.

Im assuming it seems to warm up from cold “normally” and all temps are stable at the same time as they have always been ..

Never timed mine but id guess 20 minutes is “plenty if time”

Ok I’ll try but 88 head temp seems fairly high. Temperatures displayed on screen are the set values (+-0.4c for group and +-0.2ish for boiler) for first shot and the same for later in the day shots with no noticeable variance.

I’ll post photos and videos tomorrow

try 90/96 for med and 92/98 for light

pinky-and-me and how you proceed if you wish to drink another coffee after ⅘ hours? Leave it 10-15 minutes for warming up? What temperatures are you using for light, filter roasts?
