CoffeeSnobs is worth it for BeanBay as well.
Not as good as this site for ACS/DaveC support but a lot less chaff than HB.

A couple of questions for the brain trust.

I’ve removed both boilers as I have decided to give them a good clean. The bottom of the steam boiler has a scale layer inside it, I’m thinking of submerging the bottom end of the boiler in a descaler solution so that the threads will also be cleaned (this would not work if I put the descaler inside the boiler after re-installing the plugs), any reason why I should not do it?
If it takes too long to get the replacement plugs, will the machine work if I put the machine back together without the steam boiler and turn the steam boiler off, so I can use it in the meantime?

Yes, but you would have to ground the autofill. otherwise it will immediately try and fill the boiler, It’s also necessary to disconnect the steam element wires, just in case.

Just be careful, I think it’s BSPP an this sort of plug should work…but with stainless you have to be extremely careful about galling…also be prepared to get Viton O rings if they are supplied with NBR etc..

To reduce the chance of galling, do all of:

don’t overtighten
use a special tape, or PTFE tape
use a lubricant

No need to apologise mate, I actually received the plugs yesterday, many thanks again.

I was was actually asking the question in case I had to source different plugs as two of mine look different and have hex head instead of allen head (but turned out to have the same thread in the end), or if any of the boiler threads was damaged and needed to be re-tapping, which unfortunately is the case for one of the holes. So I need to source a tap for that. I believe the female thread is BSPP ¼″ , right?

Sorry mate, not quite my area of expertise.

I would check in with someone like “Oz Bearing supplies” in west Caloundra.
They should have taps, plugs measuring equipment and the info you need.

Rule of thumb for imperial BSP threads. Measure the O/A diameter of thread, deduct ¼″ this will be size required.

Managed to find the correct tap, it’s ¼” x 19 TPI, with any of the following designations: G, BSP, BSPF, BSPP, if anyone needs it.

Also, the piston rubber seal was completely hardened, I’ve replaced it with the spare supplied with the machine, but I would like to source spare ones, possibly made out of silicone rubber, any pointers?

Looking for some advice. I will be (finally) plumbing my machine to a fixed water supply. Got a Brita C50 filter and did some hardness testing to know what by-pass to set it to.

Apart from setting the machine to plumbed (F04 = 1), is there something else I should do or look out for?

That should do it.

That makes the inlet solenoid active so it opens and fills the tank when the low water signal is received.

Ensure your filtered pipe for pump delivery is in the bottom of the tank.

id suggest the fill float should be approx 60mm above the bottom of the tank . That way you are carrying enough but not too much “stagnant” water in the tank.

I have 1=120

5=32

Be careful not to have the fill float too high or you will carry too much water and maybe flood the place!!!
