Hi guys,

I think I hacked the circlip thing. 5 days ago i was having a conversation with my friends one of them is a LM leva owner and he mentioned that LM use a wire for its showerscreen. Then it hit me 🤯 why don’t I use the portafilter circlip.. i took off the single spout wire and guess what!! It fit nicely 5 days now no single evidence of rust.

Easy to install, easy to remove & most importantly ZERO cost

We have been using the GU10 or the portafilter clip for a while now. Prefer the GU10 as it is sturdier than the portafilter clips. 😊

For those who haven’t registered interest with the Lever Magazine, Issue 4 is now available online (for free), with a review of our favorite machine.

While it does skip on a few valuable (to me) features such as the pressure gauge, I found this review fairly balanced and an interesting read.

@Dave, I think you covered everything in your translation… but some people may want to read an ‘impartial review’ (if there is such a thing). and enjoy the nice photography.

Regarding the brackets and the little bit of an angle between the drip tray and the case, my machine has the same ‘feature’ as the one in the review (I had assumed it was a cosmetic issue which happened during shipping). I’m not sure if others have noticed it, but on my machine the corner steel in which the front feet are screwed is not square…. It might be possible to bend the two pieces of angled stainless steel back into shape, although this could cause more problems than in would solve (‘Better in the enemy of Good’ as some say 😉)

Eiffel I suspect it may have happened in transit, it’s a very heavy machine?

In fact, I have wondered if the machine should be transported with the counterbalance weight removed and placed underneath the machine?

Come to think of it, given that the transit feet were not attached to the front of the machine, it’s unlikely that the angle between the drip tray and the body of the machine is the result of shipping damage… It’s more likely that the corner steel used on my machine wasn’t bent far enough to be square during the manufacturing process… As long as it doesn’t get worse, the fact that the corner steel push the front of the drip tray up is only a cosmetic matter

Eiffel Ah, OK, I have never actually seen a production machine and I didn’t have any strengthening on mine, but you are right the legs were not on the Alpha machine, so I should have assumed they wouldn’t be on the production machines.

I still think the counterbalance weight should be underneath though, to make it easier to lift onto the counter.

Eiffel I had the same issue with my machine. The drip tray “bounces” on the case rather frustratingly. My fix was to use one of the felt sticky pads included in the box. I stuck it to the case, and the drip tray slid on snug. While this fixed the issue, it was annoying to say the least.

I removed the weight immediately as I needed to move it each weekend for two Farmer’s Markets.

3 different Baristas with over 2,000 shots and it hasn’t shown any inclination to move or tip whatsoever. I know its a possibility but just how if you use it correctly eludes me.

Stevebee I removed my weights 3 weeks ago when I decided to take the panels off just to see how easy it was. I only put them and the weights back on today and I did not come close to it tipping in that time either…..mind you, I doubt I pulled 2000 shots!

Stevebee Paolo made a video for me with him yanking hard and suddenly on the lever and it lifted slightly…I think it may have slid forwards a tad and hence the rubber pads.

The rear weight is heavy but not too heavy to make a huge difference. I removed the weight and moved her to the work top to add a drain valve to the base of the service boiler. I had put the weight back and moved her to the usual position. I only found the machine a little heavier than without.

She is too heavy to tip even without the back weight.

Re-the front side bend/angle, I don’t find any deviation / bend relative to the main body of the Evo. Please have a look the pictures and let me know if any one can spot a difference.

Eiffel The below are the frontal views of ours for you to compare. I don’t see a difference between what you posted and mine; I think I can’t still spot an obvious difference to make any impact in the bigger scheme of things! 😊

As long as it stays as it is, I don’t see it as a big deal. 😉

Looking at your machine sideways, it seems the drip tray is better lined up with the body of the machine (and I presume the top edge of the drip tray is horizontal). It’s not quite the case with mine, and there is a gap of 4 millimetres between the bottom of the drip tray and the side panels when the top of the drip tray is touching said side panel. An other way to express this, the body of my machine is slanted forward by 1 degree, while the drip tray is slanted the other way by 2-3 degrees

No issues here. If you think the the drip tray is off by a couple of degrees, if you want, you may try reseating the bottom of the drip tray. It’s any way bolted. 😊

There seems to be much discussion o an overseas forum, about the steam power of the Evo. One gent, suggested that he needed to purge 200 pls of water before the steam was dry. I queried whether or not his machine was set to C or F so I hope he does not take exception!
To confirm. I have not tinkered with ANY of the settings on my machine. The group is set to 93.5, the brew to 101 and the steam to 130. This short video shows me purging after the boiler reached temp.
