If that doesn’t work, try puly caf, fully diluted with water so it’s not scratchy at all and a Microfibre cloth?

Berryterry Hi, that looks like a rust stain. Just mix some baking soda with lemon just to make a paste consistency,Apply on stains, leave it for a few minutes then rub with sponge or microfiber cloth. good luck.

DavecUK It would be worth removing the top section and checking between the bolt holes with a straight edge / steel rule to check the surface between the fixings, also check for raised area (s) around bolt area ?

Check lower and upper component for flatness.

Berryterry Sorry to hear they did not go. The consistency of those dark circles surprises me. How do you clean them ? Do you clean the drip tray with any chemicals ? Are they stains, burn marks or rust?

If you want, you may try chrome polish or try cleaning with baking soda. But, not sure if they will work or worsen the problem. You may consider sharing this photo with ACS by email and ask advise.

So just woke up and went to make some coffee for breakfast.

Mi brew boiler PID got crazy:

Since I have no idea how to solve it and had to work, I just turn it off and made some V60 coffee instead.

Ay instructions on how to proceed? Thanks

Msmk0 It can’t suddenly change itself. You might have accidentally changed the brew temperature instead of the steam. Please see if this helps.

In short, otherwise:

touch the brew boiler temperature
use the plus or minus sign to the desired level - say 98C
touch the green tick mark
allow it to drop and report back please

Touch panel demo by Patrick. You may also check if the brew PIDs are at the default values.

Msmk0 Looks like either the wiring for the thermal sensor has a bad connection, check the mid point push together connector and the one in the control box are not loose.

If that doesn’t help, probably a failed temp sensor.

Msmk0 Mi brew boiler PID got crazy:

There’s no way the temperature inside the brew boiler can fluctuate up and down between 126C to 132C (approx) in the space of a few seconds inside a brew boiler with that capacity. It’s physically impossible.

Something with the reading (maybe it needs a reboot, or there’s an iffy connection somewhere?) is not right?

Interested to see what the issue is. Good luck and keep us posted.

Hi, in the video you can see the temp is set as 100.

I had it at 104 and decreased to 100 as shown. Kept that high

Also, after recording that, I pulled around 300ml of water to force cold water to enter the brew boiler, and both group and brew boilers PIDs showed a decrease, immediately the brew boiler went to that crazy status again.

Msmk0 Ah. I could not see the video. Did you look at Patrick’s video? Could you reset the PID parameters to factory default please ? For easy reference, here are the default values.

Kp 2.0, Ki 0.00, Kd = 5, B 5 (default)

I suspect if your PID parameters are out of line.

Let’s know what you have got.

Some of ours’ still overshoot by 2+C. But, this is too high.

There is a little black button on the limit stat (spade-like wire connection). You may try resetting by pressing it. This might help. But, @DavecUK will advise you on this. Please wait for him to advise.

In any case, you must email ACS, send the video and ask for their pointed advice.

Msmk0 Did this happen before ? What were the typical overshoot before this incident.

I had a small overshoot before I changed the PID settings but it was only 3 or 4c.
This is 30c which is way more than an overshoot and not sure changing PID settings would help. Definitely a DavecUK or ACS one I would agree.

[UPDATE] [SOLVED]

So, as I have some IT backup and no time for any other troubleshooting (and even less for tinkering) as I am on working schedule, I just left the machine unplugged.

I plugged it 5 hours later (at my lunch break) and 20 minutes later it was stable (-ish) around the PID set time. I pulled 2 coffees and everything remained normal.

So, looks like some electronic shenanigan going on there, but old school IT troubleshooting fixed.

Glad it is sorted. I think you should still email ACS with the video and the troubleshoot. I would keep the contents simple and let the video do the talking.

By the way, I was half asleep and being a bit nervous about it forgot to mention I found the machine with AL.11 error (so it needed water), but this happened to me several times before and I just fill the deposit and the machine worked well always.

So, I will try to reproduce the issue in case something (Temperature probe?) got broken and need fix.
