Just make it hot and then turn them off ?

cimbali Pretty. Well done and congratulations. Just undo the screw handles and swap.

LMSC I always recommended to ACS not to use threadlocker (they buy the PF Body and handles separate…so they should come out easy.

LMSC I have absolutely no idea why most manufacturers use threadlocker so tough, you have to destroy the thing to get the handles off…it’s just not necessary.

DavecUK I was pleasantly surprised the Evo handles are easier to remove, although I didn’t know they can be a pain to get them off in other machines. It beats me if this hasn’t changed.

Thanks for your advice. It is indeed very easy to remove the handles. That is perfectly made from ACS.

SimonBarker Beaut. Is the one on the right LR? If you need to shift her to work top for any maintenance, a few things would help reduce the weight, after removing the reservoir.

Switch off brew and service boilers
Flush out as much water as possible from the service
More importantly, remove the back weight.

The last two will reduce the load by a decent margin!

SimonBarker - you are one of the very few who have a Londinium and an Evo side by side. How do they compare for you, in terms of usability, reproducibility and taste in the cup? What sort of coffee do you like? I don’t have either machine, I’m just very curious!

SimonBarker We would like to do a detailed comparative side-by-side review of both of them. I hope you will include light to dark roasts — at least for comparison purposes.

LMSC It’s an original Londinum, I’ve had it for over 7 years.

MediumRoastSteam I’ll need considerably more time with the ACS before I’d want to talk about how they compare and the more pretentious side of coffee bores me so I’m hardly the best person to wax lyrical about an espresso machine but I’ll share some thoughts once I have them.

I’m not replacing the Londinium because I’m in any way unhappy with it, it’s been a star over the years but I’ve been using the Londinium for so many years I thought it might be useful to try another manufacturer so I can see a different take on the same idea. It’s a small reason but I really think the fast warm up time is a super nice feature for home use, I’m pleased to see the boilers retain their temperatures for quite some time too.

Previous problem (leaking from back of group) back again, but now a little worse. Have emailed Paolo, but thought worth asking if anything else to try. One thought was the upper/higher gasket. I don’t seem to have a spare of that but maybe another thing to try?

Sorry to hear. Paolo is the best person to advise now.

Changing all the gasket is definitely the next course of action, IMO. Too soon to change them.

I am not sure lubricating as per @Systemic video will help.

As its super hard to search in Threads with this forum software (or I did not find the button):

Is there any consensus on optimal PID settings? The default settings overshot by 2 degree on my EVO and I now raised B to 50 (following https://onedrive.live.com/view.aspx?resid=889B290848E68B67!43085&authkey=!APmfRj0iIP-QcQs).

This seems to fix the overshooting and the heating cycle reduced. Did not notice any side effects.

SebH I have thrown everything at it by taking the P as low as possible, I to Zero and D higher - not all of them at the same time but in some combinations. It only reduced. Mine still constantly overshoots by 1.5C.

You may try the following:

P=1.2 I=0.02 D=12 PID setting (B) =5 or what ever you have now
P = 0.5, I = 0, D = 22, B = 50 - My current set up. Still 1.5C overshoot (excluding the initial 30 mins).
