Many thanks to @Eiffel who did the unofficial FAQ! It really helped and I appreciate that. I was looking for the washers @Systemic mentioned a while back and the V-Handle too. I also got caught up in some drama but it’s good for the soul! Right?? Oh well, it happened

I was planning on delaying my evo leva but I finally did it and finalized the payment (I’m in no hurry tho).

Nylon washers work perfectly preventing any damage (unlikely) to the chrome surface of the group. If you want to go full obsessive, washers can be sanded down on one side to make a snug fit for the slightly angled surface of the group.

Systemic can you point out the washers? I want to buy some for the group, mine is already heavy damaged after not even 100 shots.

I guess, those nuts are unscrewed clock-wise,
is that correct please ? I would expect those nuts to be very tight.

Edit : Grease won’t prevent any damage, IMO. I have also gently greased, like you have.

The diameter of these in is only 6.4mm, these fit the big shaft holding the grouphead piston assembly?

I did clean all the parts,put new grease in, centered the assembly so it wont drag, but it wont work.

Let me be clear:

The spring tensions the piston and its shaft and there will be a small rotating movement involved when you compress and decompress the spring. This rotation movement is taken and stopped by the upper sliding mechanism of the lever. That is why you see the damage there. Normally to fix it you would need some sort of shims/spacers that are put at both ends of the spring, so they take away the twisting and the parts move free. That would fix the noise too.

You can then after adding the two shims/spacers screw the piston nut less so the travel distance remains the same for the spring compression.

Adding small teflon/plastic shims at the upper part will partially fix the problem. Maybe someone with better english skills in technical terms can put this into an easier to understand post. Thanks

Domed nuts securing the top half of the group only need to be pinch tight. There is no water seal and their purpose is secure the lever assembly. I fitted nylon washers as I don’t like chrome on chrome contact. I got the washers from RS online - link here

They’re M6 × 1.0. They take a 10mm spanner.

The 4 Acorn nuts linking the two halves of the brew group have a standard thread (i.e., they unscrew anti-clockwise when viewed from the top, as usual)

Yes, I was referring to the stud that holds the acorn nuts.

If you are talking about the shouldered bolts SM231 and SM230 on this diagram, they look like a smaller diameter goes into the bearings SM124 so the shoulders will be smaller than the thread. Any shims will need to be the diameter of the shoulder, not the thread. There’s not much room, if any, for any shims there on my machine.

Norvin Thank you for the diagram. I’m not sure either; we need to check! It will be good if we are able to squeeze a nylon washer on each side.
