Why would this cause the damage to the sides of the lever shaft?
I’m trying to understand in simple layman’s language. Are you suggesting the factory default pressure causes enough friction and/or force sufficient enough for the SM121 to assume a certain angle, which is skewed to the left of the machine, resulting in heavy rubbing?
Looking at Denis’s pictures, the issue is not just at the left but also on the right of SM121.
I am thinking, it is nothing to do with SM235 and SM236 and it is external; I was wondering the SM230 and SM231 are too tight causing these threads including SM99 and SM326 to rub on the sides. Perhaps, a tiny loosening of SM230 and SM231 might be enough.
Another issue might be - would there be a loss of pressure if we were to loosen the SM235 and SM236? It might be a tiny loss, which may not be noticeable.
I think we are perhaps over-thinking this and the fix may be a couple of thin nylon washers or a slight loosening of the bolts.
