darkstefano I don’t drink dark, although I end up with medium dark more often when the roasts do not match the descriptions.
On the light to medium, I found the acidity at unpleasant level when I tried the puck screen (it’s been a long time, though); I can no longer drink them as a black, let alone as an espresso. I am forced to cut with milk to avoid dumping the coffee in the sink.
I will have to play with the temp profile or grind size as a work around. Why fiddle with the cup when the machine consistently gets a lovely cup every time?
Furthermore, I only drop the shower screen twice a week. I don’t find any coffee stains on them. However, after I finish pulling the shots for the session, I give it a quick wipe with a clean wet towel without dropping the screen, which takes just a few seconds. Dropping the screen and cleaning it is a breeze.
I clean the piston and the group every 3 - 4 months and apply some molykote. I find them clean, tbh. 😊
I am glad it works for you. It’s good you find it useful!
However, I am open to putting a paper at the bottom of the filter to arrest the traces of fines, which do find their way into the cup at times. I often find the traces in the case of Kenyans and Ethiopians; so are some decafs. If I do, grinding a bit coarser usually fixes it.
The problem with the paper at the bottom is losing the coffee oils! :-)
