Msmk0 Did this happen before ? What were the typical overshoot before this incident.

I had a small overshoot before I changed the PID settings but it was only 3 or 4c.
This is 30c which is way more than an overshoot and not sure changing PID settings would help. Definitely a DavecUK or ACS one I would agree.

Msmk0 Looks like either the wiring for the thermal sensor has a bad connection, check the mid point push together connector and the one in the control box are not loose.

If that doesn’t help, probably a failed temp sensor.

Msmk0 Mi brew boiler PID got crazy:

There’s no way the temperature inside the brew boiler can fluctuate up and down between 126C to 132C (approx) in the space of a few seconds inside a brew boiler with that capacity. It’s physically impossible.

Something with the reading (maybe it needs a reboot, or there’s an iffy connection somewhere?) is not right?

Interested to see what the issue is. Good luck and keep us posted.

[UPDATE] [SOLVED]

So, as I have some IT backup and no time for any other troubleshooting (and even less for tinkering) as I am on working schedule, I just left the machine unplugged.

I plugged it 5 hours later (at my lunch break) and 20 minutes later it was stable (-ish) around the PID set time. I pulled 2 coffees and everything remained normal.

So, looks like some electronic shenanigan going on there, but old school IT troubleshooting fixed.

Glad it is sorted. I think you should still email ACS with the video and the troubleshoot. I would keep the contents simple and let the video do the talking.

By the way, I was half asleep and being a bit nervous about it forgot to mention I found the machine with AL.11 error (so it needed water), but this happened to me several times before and I just fill the deposit and the machine worked well always.

So, I will try to reproduce the issue in case something (Temperature probe?) got broken and need fix.

Could an air bubble in the boiler cause this? If the sensor is not submerged.

pinky-and-me Usually it’s if the steam boiler has been used, the machine shut down…water shrinks as it cools, probe exposed, autofill runs in the morning but tank not quite full enough and low water alarm triggered.

Well same issue today, so whatever it was, it was not fixed.

I’ve checked cables but they are ok, so most probably the temp probe is broken.

about the sensor the code are 2 type AL01 means that it’s broken AL02 disconnected.

Just saw on their instagram that ACS plans to produce a 1gr Vostok. Looks really nice, although it comes out of nowhere and might lead to frustrations for recent evo buyers!?

Just to be clear, this would be a machine which has to be plumbed in (no cold water tank), has very large boilers compared to the Evo Leva and is also quite deep… so it seems it’s quite a different animal compared to the Evo Leva, although it shares some of its key components with it.

Eiffel Correct. IMO, it will not only be an overkill at home but will also be extremely expensive. It is most probably aimed at smaller coffee shops and restaurants.

Also the Vostok doesn’t seem to have a manometer.

Although, last picture from them of the EVO Leva shows one unit without it… isn’t it weird?

Msmk0 I’m pretty sure it does have a Manometer, or will, the ones I used/saw all had manometers. As @Eiffel said, it’s a different animal. The Evo was really intended to be very at home, in the home. I have the Nurri lever and it’s big…I’m still waiting for the drip tray to arrive, but here it is without the drip tray…remembering it’s pre-production and wasn’t cleaned before I got it…I have cleaned the bits I drink from, but still need to clean the reas…when the drip tray arrives…note this is a very early prototype. My counter is 600 deep at the narrowest portion!
