Few years back, maybe longer, Kowi Luwak coffee was touted as something for the coffee aficionado. Method is the same only the animal used is the civet which, in the wild, will eat coffee cherries as part of its diet but not exclusively. Sadly, unscrupulous producers used caged civets to produce Kowi Luwak and probably still do. The civets are fed exclusively on coffee cherries. A quick Google reveals many places you can get Kowi Luwak. You will hear arguments that the beans haven’t come from farmed animals but I would take most claims with a pinch of salt. Mercifully, in coffee circles such as this, you don’t hear about it - which for me is good.
