MediumRoastSteam ST30B - I’ll wait until @Cuprajake reports on his thoughts too. 5at website looks like a well designed glossy magazine. Appealing to the eye, but with very little information about the coffee they sell. The tins look great though.
Cuprajake Rest of the beans and ones that went in the bin followed by the lot On to a mix of Tim wendleboe and the ride and grind
MediumRoastSteam Cuprajake Rest of the beans and ones that went in the bin followed by the lot Which roaster was that? Ride and Grind?
JonWoo187 Cuprajake A bit late noticing this, but that roast (lack of) quality is a joke. Makes no difference how light (underdeveloped) some wanna go, but that wouldn’t cut it for me. The defects coming from any commercial roaster sums up their skill level and attention to detail!
Redla This is wild, tasting notes on the box describe it as ‘big hit of grapes’. Which is spot on, it tastes just like jolly rancher grape sweets. This is most likely ‘illegal’ but I like those sort of coffees.
LMSC Smith Street Colombia La Roca Gesha - Washed extended fermentation Lovely coffee - It’s exactly like drinking a fruit tea in the morning. Very nice, although it was a turbo shot lasting 19s at #3 on the Duo, 92.5C/98.5C. I would tighten the grind, see how it goes and put up the temp a little subsequently. I can already see this making a great filter. https://www.smithstreetcoffeeroasters.co.uk/product-page/La-Roca
LMSC Clifton Washed Ethipia - Filter roast One of the nicest coffee I have had in recent times. 92:5/98.5, #2.5 on Duo and 43s for 1:2.5 at 7 bars on the Evo.
Cuprajake Went through the first bag very quickly amazing how quickly you drink good coffee In comparison to the onxy, night and day difference. This is very light
ST30B Cuprajake Know what you mean. Got 3 different beans on the go ATM but waiting to order more ride & getting Guatemalan. Loved it. Shame they don’t do 500g bags.
skylark MediumRoastSteam how do you inject air until your body temp is reached, seems a fairly nonsensical statement by LH.
MattH skylark well I take it to mean - the pitcher is cold with the milk in… inject air until the pitcher feels like a room temp pitcher. Then sink the wand until it starts to get too hot for your hand - exactly when to stop depends on the temp you are trying to reach (and the consistency you are going for)
MediumRoastSteam skylark how do you inject air until your body temp is reached As @MattH said, you inject air until you feel the milk jug is no longer cold (I.e.: it has reached the same temperature as your body, approx. 36C) then you sink the tip and keep the milk swirling and rolling. When it’s too hot to touch (approx. 60C to 65C - which is the same as a hot water tap in the UK from a water tank, usually) stop the process and pour.
skylark MediumRoastSteam how does that work with a jug that has been refrigerated up until steaming takes place? My jugs are extremely cold so logically will take longer to heat up to body temp I’d think??
MediumRoastSteam skylark how does that work with a jug that has been refrigerated up until steaming takes place That’s fine. Follow the same process. You’ll eventually work out how much air you should inject.
