Not generally a fan of Brazils, but took a punt on Crankhouse, Fazenda Recanto Lemongrass triple fermented washed Topazio - a milk chocolatey base, with an interesting white/tropical fruit note (notes say lychee, white nectarine, honeysuckle). Overall, pleasant & not challenging, easy drinking consistently scoring 7/9 with dialled in methods. To my taste the best of the current Crankhouse offerings for filter.
Revisiting last month’s purchase of Prodigal, Colombia, Finca El Turpial honey SL-28, I purchased from them previously and was pretty disappointed with coffee that had no discernable notes. Since that purchase, Scott Rao posted a suggestion to leave the coffee for 4 weeks to allow the beans to open up. I tried this coffee a couple of weeks ago and found it just roasty, trying it again today it is balanced, clean & fruity 8/9, I look forward to seeing how this develops in the coming days.
Good scoring brews with both were Comandante at 18, Hario Switch 02 used as a straight pour over, with Drip Assist 02.
13.8g coffee, 67g poured every 45s to 200g total, 1 pour in the centre, remaining 2 pours in the ring, all taking around 20s each.
