prezes dutchy101 I hope it will lol! TCC are a micro roastery/coffee shop which are reasonably local to me https://thecoffeecounter.co.uk I had a bag of La Esperanza Colombian last year from them and it was one of the best coffees I had and it had this rum aroma clearly coming through so was hoping for something similar with this one
Cuprajake I seem I’m getting a bit stale and need a refresh, had so many beans atm I don’t know if I’m coming or going. I’m after something with a nice sweet finish, Any ideas or recommendation
LMSC @“Cuprajake”# Blackcat has their own Brazilian Bom Jesus wIth a cup score of 85. They never disappointed me, although the casuals Bom Jesus was meh for me after so much of hype. I am a little hesitant to get another BJ! 😂 Northstar Dock Blends - My daughter says it is delicious.
Cuprajake Yeah it BOMb for me too 😂 Told you north star were good I had a nice one from crankhouse but none left. Arrgghh
LMSC Try Sumatra Mount Kercini from Coffee Compass. They won’t do 250g. Their roast will be a little on the darker side and can be inconsistent with the roast. This is a good coffee.
Cuprajake Ah, want something a bit lighter, med light ideally James gourmet has something but been ages since I used them
LMSC Cuprajake bit lighter, med light ideally You may try Origin, Horsham, Triple Co, Long & Short (Ethiopia and Gautemala), Foundry North Star -You already know. Extract Coffee- Uncle Funka is light : med light roast I think. Please give them a shout.
dutchy101 Found this one from Coffee By the Casuals which I’m very tempted by: https://www.coffeebythecasuals.com/collections/featured-collection/products/peralta-estates?variant=42506704453795
LMSC Cuprajake gone off casuals. I only had their Kenyan on a repeat order. Their Fazenda and Bomb were disappointed. Not sure, I would buy again.
PortafilterProcrastinator @Cuprajake Have you checked out smith Street recently? I’ve just cracked into this after a 10day rest and it’s very tasty. However, it doesn’t have much body at the moment and seems to start fine but then run fast. I’m going to up the temp and dose slightly and see what that does.
LMSC PortafilterProcrastinator Is that a light / medium light ? You probably cracked open a little early.
PortafilterProcrastinator LMSC Yes, light medium. Got caught on the hop running out of beans. Would to the rest period affect the shot like that?
PortafilterProcrastinator DavecUK It is certainly fruity! Strawberry is probably the closest there. It isn’t sharp, the lemon sherbet is an interesting description. I’ll do a brew this weekend and see what it get.
LMSC PortafilterProcrastinator It could IMHO. I do think the light and the medium light would benefit from longer resting period - 2 weeks minimum and may be even 3. The important thing is you already like the cup. How long did the shot last? You may consider tightening the grind a bit if you find the shot faster. Putting up the temperature would help reduce the acidity but also likely to give a faster pour. The roaster’s description says Vibrant body. You should be getting a brighter and a light-bodied cup, right ?
