I’ve been trying to coax something out of the Unorthodox ‘Pure Magic’ this week, but failing terribly - still not sure if it’s me or my bambino, but one of us (or both) is not playing the game properly. I have drinkable shots, but little to no flavour and bounce between sour and bitter, with my current dial-in seemingly balanced between the two but nothing ‘sweet’ or flavourful. Aftertaste is there, but not unpleasant. I did have some flavour notes on the first couple of shots, but they were very acidic also. The beans are now 5 weeks past roast, so no idea if that’s making a difference.
I’m definitely moving back to cheaper beans to practice more, after my current couple of purchases. The last ‘tasty’ shots I had were from the Rave Guatemala Bosques de San Francisco Nº 52, which I really enjoyed, so I thought I was more of a Medium Roast person, and could extract them okay - obviously it’s not ‘that’ simple. I have some great recommendations in the previous thread I started, so will get to them in time.
