No seal on recyclable coffee bags

I received a kilo of beans from Origin today and was surprised/disappointed to see their new bags don’t have seals!

Obviously there are far better ways to store coffee than a manufacturers bag but if I run out of space in Airscapes I tend to use the bag as a temporary measure.

I’m assuming this is in aid of removing all plastic from their packaging.

I tend to keep hold of decent bags with seals for this reason - I’ve also bought some empty bags in the past to decant kilo bags into before freezing.

To be honest you can always squeeze as much air out as possible and then sellotape it / peg it closed in the bag you have as a stop gap, but always worth keeping hold of decent bags.

I’m now wondering if this is a packaging mistake. I had one of their new 250g bags recently that does seal. Perhaps they assume all kilo customers are commercial and not needing to reseal bags.

I just fold them over multiple times a bit like how a dry bag works
