gordy53 I make 4-5 Espresso’s a day and have had the machine since April and do a ‘weekly clean’ using Puly I have never ‘lubed’ the cam, so according to the above post I am doing this wrong/, if so I will cut down on using Puly just water?
I don’t think you need to do a chemical flush that often. In the beginning I did this every six weeks, but I think the recommended time is every three months, and I wonder if you couldn’t go even longer. When you do it - you should take the cam out and lube it.
Far more important is to pop the shower screen off to clean (inside and out, and also the group under it), which is where the water passes on the way to your cup. It’s a very quick and easy job to do.
Using a mesh puck screen considerably reduces the dirt that reaches the screen and the group, so also lowers the need for chemical back flush. I used to see brown water coming from the exhaust pipe, but since I started using the puck screen the water discharge from a chemical flush is almost clean.
