Is it sufficient if we flush out 5L of water before re-using the filter? * What about the water in the boilers ? We can drain the steam boiler (switch the boiler off and the machine power off) before going. Can we also drain the brew boiler water, after switching off both the brew boiler and the machine power off ? I must remember to fill the boilers before switching them on to prevent them from frying ! 😅 * We will give the supply tank a good clean before reusing. Thx !

I think you can take the filters out, cover the tops with cling film and pop them in the fridge not the freezer, might damage the membrane due to ice crystal formation.

Empty the internal tank by tipping the Osmio over a sink, and of course empty the supply pitcher and let dry.

Not for such a short period, just empty the water tank and leave it out to dry. When you return, just flush about 600 ml through the group in 6 sessions if you want, to freshen things up. The water in the brew boiler will be quite sterile…..but stale.

When you get back, I would discard the first 5 litres the Osmio makes as you suggested..

JahLaza I did as Dave suggested. Flushed the water from boilers and 5L from Osmio after re-fitting the filter. All good.

I guess I’m wondering when this happens me again is this sufficient? I know I had considered freezing them but as Dave points out there’s a risk of membrane damage so if the fridge does the trick then great!

We were planning to be away for a week but returned home after 2 weeks. There were neither any foul smell nor the water tasted differently. We did flush 5L out and used the waste water for watering plants and cleaning.
