CoyoteOldMan Penance FWIW, I recently upgraded the burrs on my Ceado to Ceado's own 'opalglide' ones - static and clumping went right up. I had the grinder stall a few times on a bean that the old, uncoated burrs were grinding with ease because of clumping and static within the grinder I assure you that the chamber is normally very clean. This completely blocked the grinder!
Ernie1 Yeah same experience with new burrs here. I wasn’t getting the best results out of the Mazzer with new burrs for probably 10kg. Probably doesn’t take that much but mine definitely improved.
CoyoteOldMan Penance It reminds me a bit of this character: (and you thought Clive Barker had invented pinhead? Hah! Same origin as an espresso!) BTW - I'm joking. It doesn't look too bad for 'direct out of the grinder'.
MediumRoastSteam Penance Not very, about 10mm. I have a taller one on order. From my own experience of 3 years dosing into a porta filter directly, you'll need a funnel that's at least 3cm tall above the basket. Anything less than that will be messy. This is the one I'm currently using: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B086GS7ZC6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_image_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Works well. There are ones which are magnetic. This particular one is not.
Penance MediumRoastSteam ive ordered a 30mm, with the current post service i expect it sometime next year 😁
Ernie1 You can get dosing rings that sit over the lip of the PF which will eradicate that issue of the grinds on the edge. I’ll get a pic when I’m home, pretty sure it’s just a cheapo one from Amazon but it’s magnetic and great.
MediumRoastSteam Ernie1 - The one linked above sits on the PF basket, rather than inside. e.g.: You can tamp with the funnel on if that's what floats your boat. 🤣
CoyoteOldMan Penance Lucky you, that's all I can say. I'm living "la vie en rose" with nary a hair on top...
