I think the Democrats deliberately limited Biden’s exposure in the run up to the election so that he wouldn’t attract adverse publicity due to his habit of moving his mouth quicker than his brain.
Covid did play a big part in the election though - the incumbent proposed curing people with disinfectant injections and/or bright lights up the orifice. He might have done better if he was also advised to limit his exposure.
There are subsets who will each vote for a particular party in elections no matter what their candidate says or does. Many of the floating voters were swayed by what happened because of Covid. Trump campaigned on growth - he wasn’t able to continue to deliver on this at least partly due to global events he was unable to control - this hurt him.
He was also perceived by many on both sides to move too slowly in setting up the US pandemic response. He alienated some by choosing to be vaccinated and caused some to suffered cognitive dissonance by catching a disease that they thought was made up.
2020 wasn’t the first time that questions had been asked about the integrity of US elections - remember Bush vs Gore’s hanging chad and the Russian psy-op that was purported to secure Trumps 2016 victory to name but two. My own non-expert view is that there was no widespread organised fraud in 2020 but there will have been some procedural errors and ineptitude the same as there is in every election.
Apart from anything else - organising fraud successfully on such a massive scale would require a degree of competence that I don’t think has been demonstrated. :-)
